Ok this is definitely one of my cooler races. I had a badass race just now off of speedway right by my house on Craycroft. I live near Speedway and Rosemont near a strip club that has a lot of higher cost cars parked there quite often (like ferrari's, vipers, porshes, ect). Anyways, long story short, was going to get some ice cream for my girlfriend (no she ain't pregnant! lol) so I grab the keys to my firebird, even tho last time I drove the car with 3 people in it the clutch was slipping past 5,500 rpms.................but I'm going to the corner store, what could possibly happen? Sure enough, I leave around 1am........which is just the same time this strip club lets out, and I catch a Red RT-10 viper cruising down speedway just leaving the club. I pull up next to him at Speedway/Craycroft and give him the pipes. AMAZINGLY (cuz fast cars never wanna bother with a faded stock looking 88 formula) he throws some revs back at me and I wait for the light. Light goes green and all I hear is TIRE. I quickly pulled a car length, he hung for a second, then I pulled strongly away from him and unbelievably my clutch wasn't slipping, got about 4 car lengths before i shut it down in 3rd. My guess is my clutch didn't slip because with only 1 person there wasn't as much load on it. HAH. I've raced LS1's that were quicker than that! I thought vipers were faster. Anyhow, that was a pretty cool quick little race, and the first time a Viper or similar car has EVER even shown the slightest interest in racing. I caught him at the next light and he didn't even want to look at me. Must be embarassing getting whooped by a faded 20 year old car

 

Which strip club do you live by? Tens, emperess, TD's? That's cool as hell you beat a viper! I can't believe he raced you! I used to be a valet driver for a country club and everytime a viper pulled up, it was an OLD guy! I could never see one of them racing. Anyways nice kill! I wish I could have seen that! Which of your cars did you run?

 

I had the chance to fart around with a viper one night. I saw it coming up on my tail fast, and I thought it was an eclipse so I didnt bother. It got next to me on the highway entrance ramp, and he was on it, they dont sound all that great (give me an overcammed big block chevy any day) and didnt move along all that fast. It would absolutely burn my T/A, no doubt, but its nothing that couldnt be taken out with a supercharger. Of course its like a 53 corvette, it doesnt matter how quick it is (and they are fast, dont get me wrong), the cool factor is 90% of it.

 

You must live by a high class strip club. The closest one to me usualy has rice, or rusty beaters in the lot. Don't think its trashy though, those chicks are hot, and can give a hell of a lap dance.

Oh yeah, and good race.

 

The strip club was Ten's on Speedway/Rosemont, and yes its a high class type place. VERY nice girls there :hail: The guy driving the viper really didn't look like he'd race, but he did. I agree, even though it wasn't all that fast, it was still cool as hell, and it had like 18inch frick'n steam rollers in the back! I raced him in the Formula of course, although I think I could have taken him in the Grand prix, and at least hung with him for a second in my girlfriends camaro.

Gross! I had a couple of girlfriends that worked at sunset strip. It's sad that I didn't find that out about either of them till later on! And then you think about every time they go to work, ALL KINDS OF GUYS WILL BE GETTING LAPDANCES FROM YOUR GIRLFRIEND! I couldn't handle that. Wow, everyone in here is from Tucson! (Besides 92 superram) How strange.....

 

u know he wasnt trying rite.... rite..... no way if a viper was trying would u even hang with him maybe the first few inches and then ur dead in ur tracks he would make u look like ur standin still

 

I agree with jocww, either he wasn't trying in the least or he is a REALLY crappy driver. Still if he threw revs it counts as a kill in my book, good kill.

 

Its really good to talk about girls, and stripclubs in atleast a few threads. I love talking about cars, but there are some things cars just can't do for you. Anyway, after all this talk, I'm going to go hop in my car(its finally running again) and go to the stripclub. Have a nice night(I know i will).

 

His Formula is obviously in the mid 12's if it is runnin right with a car that runs 12.4 and how many stock vipers run a 12.4? Not very many, the best i have seen a stock viper run is a 13.1. If it was a 03' with the 500hp 500ci V10 then yeah i would call bs but it wasnt, so congrats on the kill.

 

I hope this is sarcasm......if not read his sig please. Most vipers don't run faster that. Even with professional drivers. Have fun 92superam!

 

AWESOME kill! I would PAY to race a Viper. Was it a 95 or earlier RT/10? If so, they didn't have 450 HP, I believe 415 or 435 and ran high 12's/low 13's. I heard of a newer Viper running 12.4 at Milan. Regardless, great kill!

 

Those new 500/500vipers are fast as hell, but I like the looks of the older ones better. I've only seen 1 viper on the street ever, but I live in a small hic town. I'll be living in dayton soon, so maybe I'll see some more, and maybe even get a race.

On a much sadder note, I didn't get to go to the club tonight. I'm just going to wait till customer appreciation tuesday, where there is no cover charge, and lap dances are $10 per song. (I need to break myself of these habbibts before I end up hocking my car for for a crapload of one dollar bills. but there is one girl there I just can't resist. Maybe I should just ask her out, so I don't have to pay.

 

Not to sound cocky..............but its the other way around, the Viper should be lucky to hang with my Formula, I haven't lost a race yet in my Formula against any of the stockish Supras, C5 corvettes, and supercharged Fox body mustangs I've come across on Speedway. STOCK vortecs, a lumpy .520 lift cam, and a Super Victor intake were good for like 450HP in chevy hi performance, plus my vortecs have been extensively ported and flowed (280/229cfm), and my Formula weighs less than 3,100 pounds sans driver with AC delete, power window delete, power door lock delete, no sound material.......no back seats.........ect. TRUST me, with 3.73's and a 5 speed, it is a bonifide mid 12 second ride. And when I said I "HUNG" with my friends 12.40's second ride, that was being generous. I was pulling away, and he was in track ready condition with slicks, I was driving on ****ty radials. My girlfriends camaro runs 14.0 @99 in tucson and I FLY away from her car likes its a ****ing joke, I can give it half gas and eat a sandwich while shifting at the same time and still smoke the camaro. So no, its not a BS race story. Why do some people think cars like Ferrari's, Vipers, Corvettes, and Supra's are automatically king of the road just because of there name??? Does that mean if you drop a blown 502 into your Grandma's Cutlass, you'll still get smoked by stock vipers? I'm on a rant but you get my point

Chris's Firebird is friggin fast, I would put money down that chris beat that RT 10, besides those are fairly slow in the viper family, if it was a GTS then chris would have been eaten alive lol.

I don't think so. A saw a GTS run at SIR last year, he ran a 12.7@110, so I wasn't at all impressed.
