ME vs Dodge Colt lol

I'm gonna race my friend that had a 1990 Dodge colt with a 1.3L 4 Cylender

I got a 1986 2.8bird, How much will I beat him by? Will I be able to toy with him?

You should take him no problem. I think they have something like 80 hp and like 90 torque. The only advantage he has is the 5-speed and gas mileage, but I think you should destroy him. Good luck anyways.

ummm

With my Auto when Should I be shifting?

I make peak HP at 5100RPM, and redline is 6k, Should I take it to 5500RPM just so I'm closer to my powerband in the next gear? What about Launching? For fun I might do a Burnout then let off the brake when the light turns green, I dunno.

Any input would be appreciated,

I go For my Road Test on Monday, so hopefully I get my license.

Suprisingly enough the bronco II will be a tough race. These are the specs that I found:
2.9L 6 Cylinder 140 hp Gas
* Horsepower: 140 @ 4600rpm
* Torque: 170 @ 2600rpm
* Weight: 3,166 lbs.
Hp and torque is about even with yours since you have some mods, but he does have the manual. I think its gonna come down to how good he can drive it. As for the colt vs bronco: the bronco should also destroy it.
The shift points has to be answered by someone else. Good luck on the races.

oh cool

Thats pretty sweet, But i dont know how healthy the engine is on the bronco, it was running *pretty* hot about 13/16 to the hot line, smelt like burnt all the time, So i told him we shoudl check the coolant, sure enough it was real low, we had to add about 4-5 cups of McDounalds meduim cups of 50/50 coolant, He just burnt his clutch so it's getting repaired.

Where do you search for Specs on Vehicles? I try on Google but I can never find anything.

Lately I've found a lot of specs on autotrader.com. I think its pretty reliable. Just go to the used car research and then the model info.
Tell him to check the radiator/hoses and/or the fan just to be safe.

Crazy as it may sound...I think that the guy should hang on to his 2.9 and mod it. The postman here has a vehicle just like that. 2.9 B2. Should be spry enough for what it is. Bronco 2s were nothing more than Ranger versions of the original Bronco.
All the same, you'll own both of them. But he does have 4wd. Could he use that to get a good lauch? Guess tire spin won't be an issue anyway though, right?

About the postman bronco I mentioned above...

345,000 miles and climbing. Only repair done was replacing a head.

You would take the Colt easy, you would take the Bronco on top end because of aerodynamics. I would mod out the Colt, since they are almost the samething as the Omni, you might be able to drop in the Omni GLH turbo engine into.

Back when I was in high school I had an automatic 90 Dodge Colt hatchback and kept up with my friends 83 305 Camaro easily from a roll. I got murdered from a stop though. Run him from a stop and you should be OK.
