Monkies car in the 1/4!!!

I know a lot of people have been getting into fights with Monkie about his cars perfomance, and I saw a post on another website by him.

I hope this clears a little up!

"I don't exactly know if it was good or not. It was my first time out on a real drag strip and all night in the 99 Cobra I was around 13.7 but did manage to pull off a best of

R/T: .784
60': 2.082
330: 5.7292
1/8: 8.805
MPH: 82.72
1000: 11.382
1/4: 13.566
MPH: 103.45

it was at 10:22p.m. with a humidity of about 80% and the temp was around 80*

I was on street tires (255 Revo tires). The best run was slipping the clutch out at 2500-3000. Shifted into 2nd (spin) shifted into 3rd (spin) shifted into 4th at almost the 1/4th mark (chirped the tires). I'm going back to run tomorrow and I would like to know how to make my times better. I really don't want to ice my intake cause I kinda think of that as cheating. I just run 3-4 times then pop the hood and let it sit for a while. What air pressure should I be running on the back?

I think I can get better out of it. What am I doing wrong?"

No flaming here guys, just letting those who are interested know.

And Monkie, if you posted this on another website I am sure you wont mind it being here!

that's not a bad time at all for a cobra. The 60 ft isn't bad having to run on that IRS. trap speed is about right and the cobra ran a 13.5, which is typical. However, if Monkie wanted to post it here, I'm sure he would have.

He posted it online, that gives me the right to bring it here. I do remember him saying he could run 12s, and a 13.5 could take out some LS1s so I have no doubt he did that! I was just posting because he was making a big deal with Cobrakiller, and yet his car seems to be slower than Cobrakillers!

I just found an old quote of Monkies!!!

Cobra killer my ***. You will need a lot more than a 13.8 to kill any Cobra.

This is when he was stock! OOps, I guess he overestimated his Cobra, because if you take away his mods, I smell a 13.8 at alot slower than Cobrkillers old 104!!!

thats what i thought... 8.3 in the 1/8th. hmmm, how recent was this 13.5 run of his? i remember him telling me he would kick my a$$ cause he had 4.10 gears and i only had 3.07s, but my Vette would make a 13.5 sec run look silly

lol :sillylol: :sillylol: lol brian..that makes my day..what was it that he said to me? "congrats on the LS1 i'll be seeing you in a local rearview mirror" lol ohh man that's too funny. Ya he said he ran 8.3's in the 1/8th earlier this week. I'm planning on a 12.8-12.9 with the D/R's and a lid. Not too shabby for my slow LS1.

Oh, I now understand why you chose to bring it here. I haven't read his posts, but according to one guy here, he has nitrous, if he does, then his car is a 12 second one, and very capable of handling LS1s. If, however, he is full of ****, then good job for exposing him.

This was on www.Corral.net and it was posted either the day I posted or the day before!

I only posted this because he usually talks crap about how fast his car is, but he can't even keep up with my dads stock LX!

I believe the 8.3s, but who looks at 1/8 mile times, when you have 1/4 mile times to show! I will admit it is faster then my car, but not by much (both with no traction) and he has alot more $$$ into his than me!

This run was definately off the juice, although it would be funny if it were on it!!!

Thanks for the back up guys! First off this is on POS tires with no bottle at all now. So a 2.0 with IRS, 255's, and no bottle is fine with me! The 8.3 was done with DR's. Just to clear things up with you guys that are already calling BS.

He's just a troll. Even if that run was off the juice that pretty sad if you ask me. According to him he has all these other mods. 4.10 gears, full exhaust, blah blah blah. If that's his real times I ran better stock than he did with those mods. It's rough having a slow LS1.

I would handle your LS1 on the street and strip. A LS1 T/A with Borla catback, ET Streets, and sounded like a cam only ran a 13.1 against my 13.6 one time. After that he gave up running for the night. So I think you will have a very big problem getting into 12's. But then again you might be alot better driver than both me and him. But with his mods, ET streets, and a LS1 I wasn't too impressed. And he wasn't a bad driver at all. I'm sorry but I no longer fear a LS1 off the bottle. After beating a SS with exhaust and lid and barely losing to that T/A the other night on ET Streets. But hey man, seriously all the luck to you and I hope you break 12's. I sure was looking for them oh well next time I hope I can (especially with about 100 more hp)

If that LS1 had a cam with the mods you're suggesting he has potential to run much better than what he ran. I doubt at all that car had a cam. And I'm rather confident i'll have not much trouble at all hitting a 12.9. There's LS1's that do it stock why can't I do it with two mods? And as far as handling me It looks to me like my name will stay true. Cobrakiller...It was like that with the IROC and is still like that now with the firehawk. AND it will be like that for a long time to come.

ROFL buddy I am getting an ATI Procharger with 8psi Friday with a 3 core front mount intercooler and I have a nitrous shot of 125 I can hit you up with at any time. All I have to do is hook it back up. Sorry but like I said you will never beat this Cobra. Atleast no time soon. And btw I'm a much better driver on the street than on the track (more used to the street). But like I said before hope for the best for you and I hope you can break 12's. That will be more of an accomplishment then you think its going to be. Good luck man and post some times ASAP. When do you think you are gonna run that?

I'm picking up my D/R's from 5.0mustang on tuesday and i'm hitting up the track most likely on wednesday. I'll post some times and kills from there when I get home wednesday night. For your very first time at the track i guess I should give you some slack on that. But you can't say you haven't given me alot of sh*t in the past about how fast your car is. I wish you the best with your new procharger and such. But I have no plans of keeping my car stock. after the D/R's and lid which I have now..I'll be getting a muffler to replace my stock SLP muffler which is too quiet for my liking even though i've got a 3" mandrel bent SS exhaust now, then will come drivetrain strengthening before anything else. Then i'm planning a NX wet kit,UDP's,gears,ET streets,3500-4000 RPM stall converter. With that i'll be hoping to clock off some high 11's. Then possibly i'll go with a H/C/I upgrade which will hopefully put me into the low 11's. And for me i'd be pretty happy with that. Considering I am 19 and have to pay for everything on my own.

Actually yesterday I was going to have a few runs on camera (video) but they wouldn't let everyone out on the track because they were doing bracket racing and it was only the 1/4th mile anyways. I wanted to get out there bad too! Oh well hopefully in about 3-4 weeks I will have a video. If any of you want to see my car visit Greenville, SC and I will show you a tour of it.

Why does everyone think since you are young you are either selling drugs or living off mommy and daddy? I'm 18 and I have 2 cars. Its called (and I'm sure Cobrakiller will back me up here) working your *** off. Try it, it will get you somewhere.

yeah seriously. I barely have $1,000 to my name. Less after my paint job too. Hey 89TPIVETTE, what happened to those beautiful times you ran in the Corvette? I know they used to be there...

That mph is indicative of a nearly stock Cobra. The ET isn't too bad considering the mph, but definitely not an LS1 killer.

Matt86T/A, i used to have my times posted, but ive heard some of the street racers where i live have been searching different boards trying to find out what ive got or what i run. so to throw them off a bit, i changed my sig. BTW, those times have improved quite a bit since i last posted them. the killer thing is, all my car has is some exhaust work... theres nothing really done to it. ive had all kinds of people tell me i have to be running NO2 or a supercharger but i always tell them its just a chip and exhaust

Believe me I know about being young and having to pay fro all my hobbies. Plus I only work in the summer, and now it is only 1 day a week!!! And soon eneough Cobrakiller and I can vouge for eachothers cars! Maybe I will talk my dad into bringing his car out of the basement tomorrow!!!

I have seen one picture of jis car with all the "stuff" on it, and I am sorry Monkie, but it looks horrible! I was never a fan of big body kits and stock wheels!!! I am also not a fan of white, een though I own a white car!

That's not all that bad for the first time out with a stock 99 cobra.

There's really no point in icing it down if it's got a plastic intake.

the way to make big time up on those cars is to drive them like a lunatic, ie powershifting and 7000rpm shifts.

Put some shallower gears, and maybe some exhaust work and drive the thing with wreckless abandon you'll get 12's out of it, in nearly stock form

The thing is...he claims to have 4.10's cold air, and exhaust...if he's running that MPH with those mods he either:

a) can't drive

or

b) is a ***** that's afraid to drive it like he means it

Bone stock Cobras run those ET's and MPH...not modded Cobras.

Nic shove your thumb up your *** you little ****. First off I'll drive my car any way I want, pussying it or not. It was the first time at a real (good) 1/4th mile track and the main thing on my mind was not having to dish out $600 for new half shaft. You drive your car the way you want to and I will drive mine the way I want to. Like I and alot of other people have said. "the track and street are two different things" I just happen to do most of my driving on the street. Maybe I can't launch, maybe my mph suck. Got you a deal since you are such a better driver how bout I hook the bottle back up and mid way through 2nd I'll give it a shot and lets see which one of us make it to the line first.
