Not looking for a permanent mount. Im thinking going ghetto and using duct tape to attach my VHS-C camcorder to the dashboard. Is this a good location to catch street action?

Your dash idea would probably only work if your camera has very wide field of view, or if the cars you race are typically in the forward view of the cam (which would mean that you are losing )

Best way to catch street action is to have two guys with cameras. One set up at the starting line and the other at the finishing line. Then when you're editing, you just splice the two together.
