Poor schlub in a Neon
Okay, so the wife sends me out to go and get some dinner last night, and on the way back I was doing just over the speed limit (50 MPH zone), and this Neon comes bobbin' back and forth in what little traffic there was. As he pulls next to me, I look over at him and he has what looks like a black light stuck in the drivers side visor, and all I can see of him is the white bandanna that he is wearing. I sped up to just under 60 to see if I could catch the next light with him. Well, it didn't turn red, so I stayed back a little and waited. The next light is at the beginning of a small down hill, and we both caught it. He looked over at me with this grin that told me he thought that he could beat me, and I just smiled back, and waited. The light turned green, and I gave him about half a second to make sure that he really wanted to go, then I heard the bark of those 13in tires, and knew that he was tryin, so I laid into it. Lately I've been trying to work on my launch so that I don't get beat as easily, but I couldn't resist. I just stood on the gas, tires squealing, starting to smoke, and before the car shifted to second, I was past his front fender. It popped second and the tires finally caught. By the time I hit 60, I had about 3 car lengths on him, and I just let off. And to my suprise, he did not try the typical flyby, he pulled next to me, gave me the thumbs up and turned.
