me vs. supercharged GT

alright, its a guy I knew from school with a '98(?), maybe a '99 GT. I raced him once before when all he had was full exhaust, possibly gears, and I think like a MAF and TB, maybe not much more. At the time, all I had was the cam and gears. We raced twice, both times I got him out of the hole, bad. I would have him in first, then in second he would start to pull, get about to my door, then as soon as I hit third I started pulling away, probably beat him by 2.

Now, he's got a Procharger running I believe 8-9 pounds of boost that supposedly hasnt been tuned 100%, but I dont think he has anything else other than that. I know he went to the track with some ET streets and claims he ran a 12.2 (*edit: but no one else seems to know what it really runs ). From what I've seen, the car very well may be capable of that, but not with him driving.

Anyway, so as soon as I get home at Thanksgiving, I'm throwing on a set of Nittos and probably some LCA relocation brackets to try and help out with my traction problems. With everything in my sig (pay no attention to the time) what does everyone think my chances are?

Oh yeah, I know for a fact he does not use the ET streets on the street, he drives it too much and usually runs street tires. and I will NOT run him from a roll.

hmmm, if you say his car can hit 12.2, then i think you'll lose. but you also said that hes not a good driver, soooo. i think your best chance of wining is taking him out of the hole and trying to hold that lead.....good luck!

ok, imagine this and you will see who I'm talking about:

Rich daddy's boy who got a sports car just to look cool and wouldn't know an impact socket from his own ***, and suddenly gets a supercharger on a car he couldnt really drive before, and now expects to be the fastest thing on the road.

Needless to say, I dont care for him too much. It was so funny the first time we raced, he got sooo pissed off when I beat him, what made it even worse was the second race my clutch started slipping bad in 3rd and 4th! I've seen him drive, and I know without a doubt who the better driver is. I just dont think he can handle the car. guess we'll have to find out.

A driver can make or break a car. Too many people drive slow with fast cars!

If you only beat him by 2 cars before the blower, he's going to destroy you.

I guess I didnt make it all that clear. when we raced before, all I had was:

TB airfoil
headers
LT4 Hotcam
3.42 gears
slipping clutch

Since then, I've added:

LT4 heads
LT4 intake
1.6 rockers
Dual friction clutch

Will be added before the race:

Nitto drag radials or ET Streets
LCA relocation brackets

now tell me he'll destroy me. I know that if it were a good driver, my *** would most likely be handed to me. But with the guy driving it, and not going from a roll, I think I've got a damn good shot at beating him. If not, I'll just leave that to my brother (78' Trans Am with 462, estimated 550-600 hp)

There is a kid that goes to my college with a new GT. He too has a supercharger. I know for a fact that he ran a 12.7 with it. I don't kow if he can drive or what but that is damn fast! Good luck, you're gonna need it.

ok, I found out its an '01, with full exhaust, off road x-pipe, all BBK, and 9 lbs. I KNOW he has gears as well, but probably not much else.

depending on what else I find out and anything else I get from here, I just might end up getting nitrous, because I WILL beat this guy. I just dont want to get nitrous unless it seems absolutely necessary

With a decent driver, that combo should be running deep into the 12s at 114+! With street tires he may have trouble hooking, and if he can't drive, it may be a good race!

alright, thats more what I was hoping to hear. if some how he is able to get it to hook and he dust my ***, thats fine, I still just want to see how fast it really is. that way I'll know what it will take to take him the next time

just wanted to bring this back to say that the race was scheduled for last Friday night, the last night before I left for school. My brother got ahold of him at about 6 to see if he wanted to race. We agreed I'd call him at 10 that night. I show up at the local hangout out just a few minutes past 10, get out of my car, start talking to a few people when I look up and see a red GT pulling out of the parking lot that I swear was him. I give his cell a call and what do you know, I get his voice mail. T

Third time in a row he's pussed out! And the best part is I know I could have taken him because we agreed we'd run on street tires, and judging from the LS1 race I had a few weeks ago, it would have been a damn good race with him. Oh well, maybe this summer after I get ported heads, TB, bigger cam, and sticky tires

I hate people who talk but never run! I had that happen when a kid with a supposed 350 Iroc was going to run me! needless to say he didn't even have a Camaro!

I'd have to say, Texas, I think your car looks pretty damn good, and with the mods you say you have should be pretty damn quick, but that mustang, even with a puss driver would take you.

Why don't you let your brother rape him? Even with the blown engine

haha, yeah right smartass! because, in the words of B4CTom, your car "couldn't get a 12 second quarter time even if you pushed it out of a C-130 at 10,000 feet"

Man, if I had a sig, at least mine wouldn't say almost in the 12s!

12.7 on street tires with 2.73 rear! Eat that buddy.

What gears are you running?

aww now that was below the belt. however, what your car DID run, doesnt matter compared with what your car DOES run. which, the way I see it, right now is just about nothing! so uh, eat that buddy
