civic si - real performance

The 2002 Civic Si is the latest entry in a long line of quick and fun-to-drive Civics.
It's got all the power, control and features you'd expect from the car that pioneered performance and style on the streets. Its good looks, aggressive style and race-inspired handling scream performance—especially to the car stopped next to you.

Pioneered performance and style? race-inspired handling? It just screams performance! This ugly piece of sh.t is advertised like this, rofl. It appears to come with V-TEC stickers stock. Honda is just playing with these idiots now.

I tried to find some 0-60 and quarter mile specs for these just for giggles, but couldn't stand looking at the ugly things long enough. Anyone have an idea?

According to what I have seen, 0-60 in 7.6-8.0 and an estimated 1/4 mile in 15.9 @ 89 MPH. I couldn't find anyone that actually tested it in the 1/4 mile, wonder why? It has all that BLAZIN' SPEED and POWER, not to mention the superior handling (.84G's on the skidpad). That IS TRULLY "pioneered performance", the world has never seen that much performance on the street until the 2002 Civic Si!

Car and Driver could only get it to go 16.1, but their times are always a little behind, so 15.9 seems about right. The fastest 2002 Civic is still nothing to worry about for most of us!

these people are killing me.

I was at electronics boutque (sp) the other day and playing a racing game on an X-box.
one of the cars in the game was a 02' Si right up there with the Bullitt Mustang, z-28, 911, 350Z, and all the other "real" sports cars.

That is funny. Honda real has no cars that have real "sports" car handling. Except the S2000, but I do not even know how those were supposed to handle. The only thing I could think of that they would get "sports" car handling would to be for them to go into their Acura line and become inspired by an 80k+, 260-280 hp car.

Well, 15.9 is a hell of a lot faster than their past 17 second stock ones, I'll give them that. Either way it's still a CRX.

Thats just idiotic BS. Maybe they should start marketing musclecars like that again.

How do they get .84g's?? I'd have to see that 1.

well, to tangent a little bit, I had some fun poking fun at my friend after watching the F1 race in Suzuka. He's a typical "Honda rules all" guy. He's not a ***** in a sense that his 4 door sedan isn't riced out, but nonetheless, he still thinks that Honda is king.

Anyhow, I was sure to point out that 3 out of 4 Honda engines managed to blow up before the race's end. All in front of a hometown Japanese crowd.. so much for their "RACE INSPIRED" slogan. I told him that if Honda engines can't even finish the race, then I'm kinda worried about my 84 CRX beater car (which I always make it a point to tell him that it's strictly A BEATER/grocery getter/daily driver). If Honda builds these motors that fail on the track, then surely how good is their "race inspired" engines?

Oh yea.. then he continues to stick it to me about how great the S2000 is because it's got 50/50 weight ratio. Of which I fire back and ask him, "if 50/50 is so great, then why aren't F1 cars 50/50?".

From time to time, I'll pick up a ***** mag to check out their "real world" dyno tests on aftermarket products... and when I point out to him the negligable 1-2hp gains that they get from fartpipers/headers/etc.., he'll retort with.. "hey, that's a lot man.. 2hp across the board is good". Yea.. ok

I know he says these things to bug me most of the time, but I think you guys can emphatize with me.. or as the video goes, "Ricers don't know $hit".

I even told him that if the company "SPOON" had changed their name to "FORK", ricers would have "FORK" everywhere. Unbelievable.

Sorry to rant and ramble on..

To find the 'g-rating' (or road-holding or skidpad), they take the car and drive at increasing speed in a large circle. When the car starts to slide, one can calculate the acceleration (g's) from the circle radius and the highest speed that the car reached.

Wait, these brand new civic Si's are pulling about a 16 1/4 run with a great driver right? And they cost how much? While my 91 rs (with a bit of a tune up and about $200 in exaust work) would run right there if not a bit faster with a total investment of about $3000. And my car is one of the slower 3rd gens! Man this is sad, gm, chrysler and ford need to get back in there with bare bones high hp cheap/er muscle cars again and show these boys what real power is. .84g is so weak. My 78 bmw with 13x5.5 wheels and 175 tires was rater at .78gs. My *** that is just pathetic. That slogan/ad is about as bad as the toyota ad for the celeca that says "It looks fast."

OMG, I laugh my *** off everytime I see that Celica ad, "It looks fast". That does nothing but make that car look bad, That car can't even back up half of it's aggressive looks.
