It's the number of seconds it takes the car to run a quarter mile from a stop. Such as my car...see the 12.70 in my signature. That means my car takes 12.7 seconds to run the 1/4 mile and over the last 60 ft. of the 1/4 mile it averages 109 mph.

the numbers such as 13 and 15 are referring to the 1/4 mile times, although a 2 second difference may not sound like much in drag racing the difference between a 13 sec car and a 15 sec car is tremendous...

Thanks! I kinda figured it was somethin like that.

Now I gotta know how my car does, I really wish I had a track were I could test my car where I live but I don't so I guess I just gotta watch out for police and find some empty yet paved road 'cuase I'm sure not getting caught driving 50 or so over the speed limit...

If your engine isn't stock, you should take a pic of it and post, maybe we can help you identify it.....?

Hey , don't automatically assume they are referring to 1/4.

sometimes ricers will like to leave out the fact that it's an 1/8th mile track.

LMAO...like the kids in f'burg with the "9 second Honda" that wanted to race Jarrod's 10 second Mustang and didn't realize everyone else was referring to 1/4 mile times and not 1/8 mile times

an easier way to tell what engine you have (if its original) is by looking at the 8th digit of your VIN code (located on the bottom drivers side corner of your windsheild). here are the engine codes and what they mean:

7- crossfire 305
H- 305 carbed
G- 305 HO carbed
F- TPI 305
E- throttle body 305
8- TPI 350

if the 8th digit isnt one of those values, you either have a 6cyl or (gasp) a 4cyl. let me know what you come up with

that is one way of saying you have a "10 second car"
maybe those boys in the Fast & the Furious didn't have thier times that off.

Vin="you owe me a 10 sec car..."
paul walker="is that in the 1/4? because if it is then heck, let me get you a camaro SS, because no one can get a civic that fast, now if you are talking 1/8 then i got this LX over here with bitchin cold air!!!!"

Vin="living my life 1/8th mile at a time"

Nice, now I have an 8 second car! I never thought of that, but I guess when I never even look at the 1/8 mile time on my slip, I have no numbers to say!
