Tryed to race a mean 2nd-gen today...( funny stuff here.)
I was on my way home, 2 lane road, stop sign every 1/5 mile, and I saw a bright metallic orange 78-81 second gen camaro z-28 behind me and gaining on me fast. (he was pretty far back) I turned my radio down and prepared myself. I brought my seat forward a notch so I could hammer the clutch, and I took my seat belt off ( it bugs me when I'm shifting.) Anyway I slowed down so that at the next stop sign we could line up, I figured he was trying to catch me anyway so we could do just that. He pulls up and I look over and this car is just sick.... It had fat meats on the back, the paint was beautiful and the thing sounded freakin; awesome.
You know, one of those cars that has a really mean cam in it and the timing is all advance and it idles at around 800 or so and just sounds like it wants to just take off, waiting to just launch.
Anyway, the guy driving it was probably like 16 or 17, young small guy, he looks over at me and kinda cracks a smile.... I'm thinkin' " He better know how to drive and he better have more than just a cam in that 350 or he's not gonna be smiling here in a second!"
Then it happened, I gave a loud rev while I eased the clutch out ( so he knew I wanted to run) and then he brought his r's up and then.....
STALLED!!!! HA HA!!!! It sounded like the car had a little backfire thru the intake!!!
I figured he'd get all pissed and race up to me and try me again but I guess he was too embarrassed and he got behind me and turned. Bummer, I really was hoping for a good run. He couldv'e beat me, I think, wouldv'e been fun. I haven't got a whoopin' in a long time. Oh well, maybe I'll see him again and we'll get to run.

that is a great story! wow... that is funny as hell! i cant belive that! i have rolled up to a nice 2nd gen, red Z... but it was a 70-73 era... really nice... i dont think this guy ever heard of a muffler.... i gave him the thumbs up! and we both peeled out... best part... 2 r-icers behind us! it was awsome!
Sorry to sound like your mom, but please dont take OFF your seatbelt when racing. I lost a friend who was driving aggressively without his belt on. He was just tooling around his neighborhood when he punched it, lost control at about 80-90mph and sideswiped a stone/concrete sign. He would probably be with us still if he had buckled up.
Anyway,
I've had people stall their cars next to me before. Its always a good laugh
. You probably would have given him a decent run if it was a small block.
Have fun and be safe.

yup...yup
Seatbelt: My dad was in a terrible accident before i was born... He was hit by a kid running from the cops at a Baltimore streetlight in tha rain. the kid was doing approximately 75-85 mph. My dad had his window down for some reason, the kid hit his lil' toyota truck and sent it airborne, my pops flew out of the side window and slammed on the ground, his truck nailed a huge brick wall and totalled the crap out of it. Shock Trauma helicopter came and got him, they said that this was a case where had he been strapped in, he would not have made it.
Age: 16-18 maybe, it was in the story.
