L98 Iroc vs. L98 GTA

Hey guys..whoa another L98 in town!!! I saw the guy and he has a red 1990 Iroc Z28 w/ an L98...his only mod is a Flowmaster Muffler, and K&N Air Filters....I got my GTA with my mods in the sig.....he wants to go from a dead stop....I don't have back seats, jack, spare, nothing, just my two front seats and not even a radio....He has all the stuff I don't have..he weighs 180lbs. I am at 220lbs...what do you all think?.....AARON

p.s. I also forgot to mention that we will race at the track not on the street so it might not be until February, I might have my Headers, AFPR and 1:6:1 rocker arms by the beginnnig of January...I am going to make my cold air intake this weekend, change the thermostat to a 180*, TB Bypass, change oil to Synthetic and Change the Rear End Oil and bump up the timing...any suggestions as to how many degrees of timing I should go up....

The weight difference will not be much of a factor.

He is lighter than you stock for stock. You've removed some stuff, which will probably bring you close to even. It will come down to launch and gears. And overall condition of both of your engines.

He may mod up in the winter also, it could go either way.

You should take him with the mods you have done. Let us know what happens.

Will be close. Most Irocs are faster than their stock counterparts for some odd reason. With the weight adj. you should have him(barely)

any suggestions as to how many degrees of timing I should go up....
i bumped my Vettes timing up 3 degrees for a total of 9* advanced. im running Sunoco Ultra 94 gasoline, so detonation isnt a problem. if you decide to increase timing, make sure you hook up a scan tool and do a couple of WOT blasts and check for knock. some people have gone beyond 9*, but on a stock motor i wouldnt go past that

mine was set at 10 but with a 112 cam and a lot of other work. I would go with 8* and open the gap on the plugs to .040.
