First kills since the car has been back!!

Well......I was cruising down cherry rd. (its right along side the college) when I see this eclipse up ahead. It appeared to be a ***** so I didn't think anything of it. I started to pass it in the right lane when all of a sudden I hear boost and the turbo on it starts spooling up. I'm like...DAMN! I usually don't race on the open road but no one was around. My friend is riding with me and tells me I should screw with him a bit. So I jump the front end and he takes off. Well....Lets just say It must suck to have seen my tail lights that quickly. LOL. I killed it 2 more times before he gave up. Not sure what all he had done but whatever it was it wasn't enough. Then he put his window down and said it wasn't running right and this and that. I was like yeah....mines not running right either (BS!). He seemed cooler than most though. So then about 20min later I'm at a gas station and I see a 2000 GT with a body kit roll in. I finish pumping up and so does he. We both leave and we're right next to each other out on the road when he signals me to pull over. We talk a sec and I find out he lives near where I do and we both race at the same track. He had a 2000 GT with K&N and Aftermarket exhuast (X-pipe also) and some kind of body kit that looked killer. He also had sn95 cobra rims. We find this dead end road way out in the middle of nowhere and run 2 times. First time we both spun so bad off the line that we were sideways!! I feathered it and finally jumped out ahead and put 2 cars on him. Then at about 100 my car started bogging (fuel boil- long story on that) and he passed me. I figure we would be about even 1/4 mile if I didn't bog but whatever. He runs mid to high 8s in the 1/8 so I should be right about the same level. Then we ran again and he hooked amazingly and destroyed me!! LOL. That car was pretty sweet. We went back into town and talked for about an hour and then parted. Well........looks like I got some more work to do. I still have the fuel line to put in so that should solve the bogging problem. Other than that.....I got my *** handed to me but it was fun nonetheless.

Damn. More and more I begin to realize that there is no way I could be an actual mechanic. I keep hearing about problems that I have never heard of. Which means that they haven't happened...which means they are due to happen...which means I'll find out the hard way. I was thinking, "...fuel what?"

You deserve an award for being nice to the clown car guy. You didn't have to be that nice, and you did anyway. Good work. Good races.

Ohhh. Just remembered...I got totally ripped on that carb. It's supposed to be a working 700-750 cfm...well, it's not. It's a 600 in need of rebuild. Oh well, my cousin's gonna buy it somewhere down the road if he can. But I guess I need to work on that sig. I'm getting a 750 Holley.

LOL. Its not a normal condition. A lot of people confuse it with vapor lock. But basically my exhuast system is running so close to the fuel lines that its boiling the fuel and all thats left by the time it reaches the carb is vapor. So....I bought a 25' roll of 1/2" aluminum fuel line. Hopefully I can find sometime soon to install it.

Damn. More and more I begin to realize that there is no way I could be an actual mechanic.
You'd be surprised. I've been working as a mechanic (professionally) for 3 years now when not in school. You should see some of the morons in this business. LOL....Damn it cracks me up just thinking of some of the buffoons.

P.S. This is not to say that your a moron, Abel. That sucks on the carb. Good luck on gettin the new one!
