Me vs. IROC (Long story)

Round 1..

I'm crusing then I see this Black IROC and a gas station so I rev so he could here me. Then from there I mind my own business. After a minute of driving I hear his car beside me. I think to myself its on. I hear him downshift his car most likely to 2nd since he had an auto, then I downshift from 3rd to 2nd and my engine screams...then I hit 3rd I startin pulling by a hair then I suddenly pull away. I was like damn, I didnt think my car was that quick. Well I thought most likely he missed a gear. But all better for me.

We reach a red light and I hear his car beside me. LUUMMPP LUUMMMPP...haha not stock, doesnt sound anything like mine. He had some nice chrome 17s (IROCs). So I go thru In n Out burger and leave quickly.

Round 2..

I see him at the red and hes pointing to the clear lane. So I pull next to him. Light is red. So I'm waiting for the green. I rev to 3k and prep. Light turns green and I pop the clutch. BAAAMMM....I'm gone, no wait...I see him pull on me hard from the start almost a car I rev the **** out of my motor and hit 2nd, I'm not gaining on him. Hit 3rd hes about a car and a fender on me. I hit 4th and 5th and still didnt have a chance so I shut down around 120-125. I was shocked.

Well alright there another red light ahead so I say to myself this is it.

Round 3..

I rev my car to 3200 instead. Light is still red and hes next to me. Light turns green and I drop the clutch and my tires grip and I quickly redline and there goes the IROC again pullin almost a car ahead of me again. I hit 2nd hoping to gain on him but nothing still. Hit all other gears from there and the same thing but not as bad. Took me by bout 3/4 of a car. Damn I was shocked. My first lost to a thirdgen. It was the best race for me in a while. Then we both said peace and went our ways. Looks like there will always be a faster car.

Sweet race groups all with the same car right? How come you hit 5th? Thats an overdrive gear. If you don't have him by 3rd you never will.

All runs were the same car. I couldnt help hitting fifth. Once I run I dont stop. I jus hope he blows his motor so I can pass him

hehe nothing like that feeling when some guy is pulling on ya like that and there aint a damn thing you can do about it lol.

i give some guys revs.....but most of the time i dont have to, my car is so loud and distinctive sounding (warlocks) that i usually draw enough attention without even trying...its funny when you just cruise by, and see people snap their heads around to see whats goin on...and then peel out after you lol.

Nice races. I had the same thing happen to me against a '91 Z28. He had a car and half on me and I couldn't gain, I was thinking "this is not supposed to happen!" Then I found out he was running 13.9@101 and claimed he was a stock.

Ah well, at least it was another 3rd gen.

383, what kind of clearance do you have with the true dual exhaust??

its really not that bad.....the only place its a little low is right up next to the tranny cross member. thats the lowest point on the system.....if i nail a big dip going fast sometimes it will hit, or occasionally scrape a high speedbump....but it really isnt that bad.

the only reason it does that though is because its 3" tubing....my brother has the exact same system on his car (86 z28) on a mild 355, only his is 2-1/2" tubing.....his has never hit before and its been on the car about a year now. Heres a picture of it, with the warlocks and all....you can see where the pipes pass through the southside machine crossmember. Id have to say its about the straightest you can get......and just in case your wondering, its really not a problem having it under the axle.....it has never touched it before. The suspension reacts away from it, and therefore it isnt really a problem. IM very happy with it. and it really looks trick from the back
