'72 Duster VS. '86 T/A

My dad works with this guy that has a '72 Duster with a 360 crate motor, headers, and a ravin exhaust. He think it has 3.93 gears? and it is an automatic. This guy has been talking trash about my car saying he would kill me at the drags. Can i beat him? Check sig for mods.

Depends on the launch that he can get. Sometimes a big power engine actually slows a car down. You'll get roasted if he hooks.

sorry kyle, but i think he will kill ya, expecally with that tranny slippin, but i say go throw on a 200 shot of N2O and then go race, you will win, but if he gets ahead hit that switch and you will show him, the por mans way.

I hate to say it but I'm fairly sure you'd lose, unless he commits a driving error. One of Mopars newer crate 360's, although I forget it's exact name puts out around 380hp. Some magazines have claimed that Mopar may have underrated it. With those 3.90something gears he'd better have some wide sticky meats in the back or he'll be spinning. Unless he blows a headgasket (just a little chrysler joke, don't get offended anyone), or decides to race to the furthest gas station (those gears that engine c'mon), he's got you.

ya i kinda figured so. Thanks for the replys. I guess its not really a bad thing since my car is still fairly stock. Not very many mods. O well maybe i'll race him this summer for the heck of it, ya never know he might get over confident and launch bad. What do u think his car could do in the quarter mile? My uncle says mine could probably hit 13.9's if i practice my launch techniques. I did race a 78 corvette the other day and won him! It was a 350 4bbl, with a 4spd. dont know if he has any mods though. He got me slightly off the line but that wasn't enough.

challenge him to an autocross, you'll hand him his *** there!
I'm guessing depending on other variables, driver, traction, etc. that he should be in the low 13's, but i'm no genious
congrats against the vette!

Anyone ever heard of "the Little Red Express Truck"? 3/4 ton D150, stack pipes, 360 V8, 4 speed manual, 3.90 gears...14.7 @ 93 mph, 120 mph approx top speed.....before the emissions people smogged them down.

But anyway, there's an idea of what the 360 can do. It would be very hard to pin down exactly how bad a particular 360 is. The could range from crap to devastating.

dusters are lighter cars than f-bodies to boot, my friend has a 72 duster w/340 and a 4 speed, and needless to say, he didnt have any problem taking that 95 z, (with 1.6 rockers, headers, catback, short throw shifter, intake, and the little free mods)

Ahh, back when the name meant something. Then they disgraced many of those names later on and then came up with new dumber names. (Not just Chrysler.)

Neon? Breeze? Horizon? Acclaim? Spirit?

Topaz? Zephyr? Capri?

Berretta? Lumina? Celebrity?

Some of these are descent cars, but the names...What were they thinking?!!!
