So 4 people piled into my car to head down to El Paso last weekend because we were going over to Juarez. I'm going down 54, about 20 miles out of El Paso, just cruising along at 75 because I didn't have my radar detector. I look back in my mirror and see a car coming up pretty fast and look over as a silver Golf passes be doing about 90. I figured I'd jump in behind him and just follow him the rest of the way down there so that we could get there faster.
Well apparently he thought I wanted to mess around, he moves over into the other lane and I pull up beside him. We're cruising along, side-by-side for about 20 seconds when I see him just jump out ahead of me. I let him jump out about a length, easily slide the shifter to 4th, dump the clutch and nail it. At first it seemed like he was pulling hard, since there were 4 people in the car, but that thought only lasted a split second as I finally matched his speed. By now I'm right beside him and I stay in it, shifting out of 4th early as I'm about 6 lengths ahead. I shove it in 5th and stay in it a little longer just for kicks. By now this guy's about 8-10 lengths back so I coast back down to about 80. The entire way into El Paso he never would pull up past me again. We all laughed our asses off when we pulled up next to him at a light. Oh well, our fun was only just beginning, so it was a good way to start off the night.

I don't think the guy did a fly by.
remember LT1 said he was just crusing when the guy passed him, then they started to play after that.
I wouldn't call a GTI **** unless it had the ugly body kit and stickers.

true. MY BAD! I know a couple people with some VW's that are modded like the GTI running 14's with upped boost. Pretty impressive, then again those cars weigh like 1lb. ( sarcasm implied )....AARON

nope, no r|cer fly-by here. I was expecting one, but surprisingly enough it never came. and this one didnt have any stickers or body kits or anything, to be honest it looked like a pretty nice little car, new 4-door, turbo'd engine, not too shabby. I was surprised at first when he launched, he jumped a little farther than I was expecting, but it didn't help much. yeah I think he was definitely expecting something else

my favorite highway trick is when you shutdown....and then they go for the 100000000mph fly-by......so you wait until their right at your bumper and hammer down, and just walk away hehe

well I told my friends "watch this" becuase I figured he would do that, but it didn't come. oh well, it was still fun.

I get to embarass a civic this weekend. Thats going to be fun. Its one of the guys here at school, claims he ran 14's before he did some work to it I'll have a video so this should be fun.
