First kill in the new ride

I met up with a few friends last night at one of the local cruise spots when we decided we wanted to go grab a bite to eat. Dennis pulled out right in front of me in his 2nd gen MR2 so I pulled up beside him at the first light we hit. We'd joked earlier about me breaking off a piece of the MR2 in the Jeep, so when I look over and he's looking over with a goofy grin on his face I knew it was on. I held it at 1500 rpm and when the light turned green I dumped the clutch and it just hooked and went. At about 45 mph I looked over and he was at least 6 car lengths behind. Come to find out...he spun through 1st gear and missed 2nd

Chalk one up for the mighty Cherokee Sport

Nic, the same things happen to me with my Jeep. People want to pick on it, and I end up putting them in their place. I have already taken out a Jetta with exhaust, and intake, a Taurus wagon (by 3 cars at 60) and a guy in a 5-speed Escort! I can't wait for the track to open up and race this kid in his Integra!

I hear ya...

I'm in the Richmond area as well...and with all the ****ty weather lately, it finally motivated me to trade my wife's 96 GP in ( paid off...*** it was nice to have NO car payments..) on the '03 GMC Z71 she's been wanting...

It's got the 5.3 and 3.73 POSI

The other day, I was coming back from the store and caught a redlight next to a Riced out Civic and in the other lane, must have been his buddy in a riced out new model Celica. They were both revving and creeping at the light...

I clicked the button for "towing mode" which winds the gears out further and makes it shift really nice and FIRM, and waited...

Light turned green and I railed it...it was FUNNY......I let off at 75 mph or so and they were WAY back there...

OF course they did the patented ***** fly by when the did eventually catch me...

It's cool to have a truck that can bark the 1-2 shift when I want it to, and still be dependable and docile enough for my wife to drive everyday. Although one of us is going to end up getting a ticket in it...it's so smooth, you look down and realize you're doing 75 mph in a 55 zone...oopss.

I just reserved the new tag for the IROC......and it TOOK IT...

The unfortunate thing is...I think I could pull a better 60' in Jeep than in my 5.0

None of my friends mess with my Jeep. I've already destroyed a couple of my friends cars with my Jeep.

I played with a guy in a Wrangler once...thought he was gonna pull a wheelie shifting from first to second. It was mostly a draw...too much traffic to really get on it. I know what you mean about the Z71...I drove my dad's 01 for a couple days while I took the old motor to the junkyard (98 escort) for the core charge. It really does creep up on ya!

I raced a guy when I had my 94 CPI 4.3L H.O. Blazer in a Jeep Wrangler with the 4.0 H.O. , stick, gears, intake and Borla catback, sounded pretty funny....well he got me off the line but when I hit second, it was over, but those things are to be taken lightly, I am probably going to sell my GTA next winter to get a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited....AARON

Don't sll the GTA, you will regret it. Buy the Jeep and keep the GTA (if you are that strapped for cash, take it off the insurance until you can bring it back on). i love my Jeep, but I wouldn't sell the Mustang for it. The only reason I got it was for the Mustang!

The Jeep GC Limited's definitely are great rides. They can take a beating and with the 5.2L it goes (mine has the LSD 3.73 rear). Once I bolt a set of Edelbrock headers on it should be low 15's hopefully. Faster than a lot of 305 F-Bodies.

And to keep this on topic:
My buddy has a '87 stock LG4 auto Z28 and he wants to race me in my Jeep. What do you think the outcome will be?

I sure am glad you put "Dennis" after that little saying up there. I otherwise may have thought it was Ben Franklin or some great philospher...

Nuts in a vice...damn....."Turn, man....owwwww....the other way.....oh my ***...."

Jeeps are cool.

My friend has a 93 Cherokee Sport with the 4.0 H.O. auto and he's beat a lot of cars in it. I haven't got a chance to race him in my stock Cutlass LG4 yet, but I think I'll take him. It is fast though, and he's got 270,000 kilometers on it.

They're pretty good on gas actually. The 4.7 "Power Tech" aluminum block/head modular engine makes good high end power. They can't outperform the 5.2 Magnum's in towing or off-roading, but in a drag race they'll beat the 5.2's. The '98 Jeep 5.9L Magnum, that's another story however...... 14's no problem.

The 5.9 Limiteds are VERY nice. I would have loved to get one but I just couldn't afford it. The 5.2 is good but it is what I would call me winter beater! I doubt I will mod it but it may make it to the track once or twice just to see!

Who can complain about a SUV trapping at 95mph stock? Convert it to the NP242 transfer case and then you'll have a 2WD burnout machine

If you did dump the AWD the truck would be very fast. I would bet mid 14s at 96-98! maybe it is time for a 5.9 swap and 2wd this summer!!!

The I will run you 5L5!!!
