well I was drifting down but forgot to set up look outs at the turns like I normally do. So when I was drifting down there was a car right there at the turn. So I avoided it but ended up scraping my entire under carriage in gutter on the inside of the turn. O_o oh well better doing that then hitting another car.

And atcually I was considering stunt driving...but....I dont wanna fly cars off cliffs and jump gaps and what not. I'd just wanna get paid to drift cars O_o haha

revlimit, you need to find a decent server/host, and put all your videos up on them. Its always great to see a car look outta control, but yet know its in control.

That footage was taken on one of the best mountain roads we have here in the islands. Its called Round Top Drive. I consider it one of the most dangereous roads to race on, and I give Revlimit mad props for busting it up there. There are alot of blind spots, uneven surfaces and offcamber turns. All in all I think its 97 turns and pretty much covers any type of turn you could ever think of. Once you have mastered Round Top Drive, you're ready for anything so thats why people go up there to practice. I know you guys must think its insane to do that stuff on a public road, but the drivers are actually very safe about it. They have lookouts with nextel phones and stuff so they know its safe to go. Almost any night after 10pm you'll find people up there drifting. The cops are trying to cut down on it, but it happens so often and so fast that its pretty much impossible to stop.

I love to watch these guys drift up there. It makes me so excited. But you'd never catch me up there drifting. I dont fear crashing or anything, I fear the consequenses of what would happen if I got caught. With the type of job I have, I cant afford to get in trouble for that kind of stuff. Sucks for me, but its good that we also do this on the local race tracks, so there is a place I can drift.

Dont worry about the footage or the hosting guys, we'll have some good stuff very soon here. We plan to have a dedicated server for a website just for the drifting community here in Hawaii, and we will be hosting video. I also plan to be buying some of those mini spy cams so I can tape them to my car and follow Revlimit (battle style even tho i loose hahah)

I dont like arguing on this board cuz I see it happen all to often...Different people have different opinions.....some people like to go sideways in their car around a turn, some people like going to the drag...personally i like both....its all a matter of opinion....its dangerous...a lot of things are...of course its a different story when ur putting other people in danger...ill agree with u on that....Instead of thinking about what YOU like...perhaps try to see it from REVLIMITER or Crazy Hawaiian's perspective

to tell you the truth yea it was stupid of me on that one run. Normally I do have look outs at each turn with walkie talkies which keep it safe for other drivers on the road. Is it stupid and dangerous to drift on public roads? hell yea it is. The reason I put lookouts at turns? to keep me safe? nope. I put look outs at turns so that I dont hurt anyone else. If I crash and get hurt then I crash and get hurt. I'm the one doing illegal **** so I dont really care.

But dont be all talking total **** about me cause I'm guessing that back in the days when you was younger you probably street raced (or maybe even still do sometimes) I know if some Civic challenged you on the street you'd probalby race him to show him whats up. Hmmmm...thats not too safe either now is it?

man I aint even gonna argue with you anymore. I aint gonna be able to change the way you think and you aint gonna be able to change the way I think. I think you're doing something dangerous and illegal and you think I'm doing something dangerous and illegal. I could post up a whole page of **** to say about what your doing and what not. But it would be useless so I wont.

I haven't watched the video yet.But I plan on it.

Anyway I love drifting.I first saw crazuy hawain doing it.Then rev limit. So I read up on it.While I am not very good yet I still try.

One time I was going 60 down a 2 lane highway.Cut the wheels pulled the e-brake and slid a perfect 180.Didn't go in the ditch or anything. The next 2 times where a bit rougher. No damage to the car though.I am working on getting getting some video of it.My buddies didn't beleive me.Till one day I scared the crap out of my buddy doing it.Now he is trying it.I do it in my cavalier. He does it in a 86 cutlass salon with a 400 sbc and th350 trans.

He has a point man. You cant dog on him that hard about being unsafe when you yourself are just as unsafe. Any type of activity like street racing or drifting on public streets is dangereous. Everyone knows it. Everyone still does it. If people are willing to take the consequences, then they will do it. Thats just how it is. I'm sure when you went close to 160mph on a public road it felt safe because there was nobody around you. If can feel the same when you drift. In both situations you are being unsafe, but because you are alone or with other people doing the same thing is feels safer. Get used to it cuz thats how it is. If anyone should be mad its the people (like me) who never do this kind of stuff on the streets. But to tell you the truth, I think Revlimit is being alot safer than majority of the street racers. Street racing does not include lookouts (well most dont anyway) and the speeds are much much much higher. I'm against street racing, but I've been there on Round Top Drive when this stuff is going on, and in no way do I think they are unsafe about it. All you see is a 3 second vid clip showing 3 seconds of what goes on. I've seen it from start to finish and I'll say its not as dangereous as it looks, tho still dangereous.

So its not like he LIKES to endanger people. I think you're just being so hard against it because of your personal feelings on him and his car. Doing what you did was ALOT more dangereous than what he did, you just dont know it because you didnt have a close call.

In Japan where this sport originated, everyone practices in the mountains. Thats how it will always be. Unlike street racing, drifters do everything they can to make sure the roads are unoccupied. Another thing you have to consider is the skill level is takes to do this. Any fool can mash the pedal on the freeway and endanger people. Drifting a road like this takes SKILL and the only people doing it have SKILL. People who dont have skill find out the first few times they drift (aka the huge smashes in the sides of their car from crashing) and usually if they dont have any skill they wont do it anymore.

Oh, and Revlimit dosnt have a shopping cart wing. I guess the wing is something you guys will never forget. I think its halarious he has made such an impact on your thoughts and you've never even seen the guy or his car in real life. hahahahha

Don't worry I will!

We used to practice in gravel lots late at night. It is alot harder to drift at night. Not being able to see where your sliding makes it alot harder.

I am 32 with a wife and 3 kids and I would feel much more safe in REVLIMITs passenger seat than driving with an 18 year old that has never pushed his Camaro to the limit before (power sliding) and have NO IDEA how to pull out of situations such as this. Going near 160 with your inexperience is plain stupidity in my mind.
Granted there is a time and a place for everything but there are way to many young drivers of these cars who have never been taught or learned how to drive like this and they are the ones that down the line end up really hurting themselves and people around them. In all honesty, I dont recall reading a newspaper article of someone getting killed while powersliding (as I call it) on a back road, It always seems to be the idiot going an outrageous speed and losing control, (not knowing the limitations of his car and how to get out of a skid)
Although his videos may appear like he is out of control it is obvious to experienced drivers that he is maintaining control of his car. Everyone should think of the "oops" video as a learning experience and remember that something like this that can happen while playing. Im sure REVLIMIT did!
My advice to all the young guys, FIND A VERY SAFE PLACE and learn how to drive your 3rd gen or sell it now before you hurt yourself or someone else in real world driving! This type of skill does not come instantly by having a performance vehicle and there are way to many of you guys think it does.

(I'm sure he's a good driver, but even the best drivers cant avoid a head on collision while trying to do a controlled slide around a blind corner)

In this case he pulled it off!
Not that it was right and I am sure he realizes now what could happen.

You can tell he is an experienced driver in his camaro reguardless of age.

Note, I did say there was a time and a place for evertyhing.

I only meant by being 32 and having a wife and 3 kids I feel I have more to lose now than ever before in my life. You are absolutely correct that a 50 year can completely suck at driving. But lets just say I was born with the talent and have been doing this type of stuff since I was 15, So please dont insult my driving or my views of other peoples.

(Ide really like to know how you suddenly skid sideways going straight).

This is what I am talking about, I am sorry if you are upset about this, but you will see the light and realize when you are older, NOTHING beats experience.

I do respect your views of safety, and that is what matters!
Take care and continue to maintain you accident free record,
Tony

I think the simple end-all fact of the matter should be that REVLIMIT has already himself stated that it was stupid of him to do that corner blindly... he's already admitted it... You say it was stupid and he says yes, I agree. So what exactly are you guys arguing about? Let's move on, eh?

The reality of the situation is that doing anything illegal on the streets is dangereous. He knows it, you know it. No need to get your panties in a wad. Trying to say you are any less dangereous going 160mph on a public street in the dark than him sliding turns going 40mph is a pointless argument. Its all dangereous. But hey guess what, the world in a dangereous place. If you want to be safe then stay at home in your computer chair wearing a helmet.

There is a legal place we can drift, but its only open for about 6 hours once a month. We dont have the backing the drag crowd gets as far as track time. This causes many of the drifters who would like to further practice their skills to head out to the streets. You've heard me describe Round Top Drive, its a no brainer why they go there.

Just to let you know, that wasnt really a close call. I've drifted tandem with Revlimit at the tracks and we've slid turns going over 50 mph only about a foot apart. I know this must sound nuts to you, but he really can control where his car goes, with or without traction. You might think all hope is lost once your sliding but you're wrong. Revlimit had alot more control over how that situation turned out than the driver of the white car. I've spun out in front of him many times and he has shown me that he has the skills to completely control his car. Lets just say when we're doing tandem drifts I'm so confident in his abilities and I dont even watch his car (unless I'm behind hehe). The thought of him hitting me has never crossed my mind.

There are many ways you can "suddenly skid sideways going straight" as you put it. In fact that is the whole point of drifting. Thats what makes it so much fun. If you'd like to read up on technique, visit www.driftsession.com

But yeah to keep it going, that oops movie was pretty crazy, but the other two clips were some nice safe fun. If you guys look in the clip he's running the front clip and sideskirts from my 90 RS. He's already made some mods to those pieces. I like how his black wheels contrast against the white car.

I'm sorry, but you obviously are a very inexperianced driver, and have never been to 160 if you don't understand how the back end can jump out on you. All it takes is a small gust of wind, a road imperfection etc.

1st off, i don't believe in the first place you've ever gone 160. You've cruised up and down the road 2x to check.... wtf you have some super speedmobile that gets to 160 in 2000 feet? It takes a lot of room, and a lot of power to get to 160. I've done 160 in my firebird, and i'll be the first to tell ya it took me 1.5 miles to get to that fast from a dead stop, and i have some pretty good power going to the wheels! like 300 hp! needless to say, my firebird is a hell of a lot more aerodynamic than your camaro.

2nd off, pull the stick outta your ***. Your putting up a stink about a person who is admitting to being stupid for what he did. Your bantering is accomplishing nothing. People who are going to do it, will continue to do it, and people who dont like it will continue to not do it. you have no point, you keep saying the same thing. Just please STFU already. Maybe you need to mature a little more.

CRAZY... please get videos of you and REVLIMIT tandem-drifting.... tandem-drifting is awesome and I want to see both of you in action simultaneously. :hail:

you cant argue how its so dangerous and then say its safe for you to do 160 on PUBLIC streets...

i think you're all nuts.

if you wanna do that down the side of the mountain when you're SURE there's no one else around, that's fine. i think it's pretty fugking amazing myself. but you have NO RIGHT to take anyone else's safety into your own hands without their consent.

if you think you have even the slightest control of a car going 160mph, you're dead wrong, LITERALLY. you sneeze....boom.

and to TELL someone to go do it again and tape it???? what if he crashes, how would you feel then...especially if he takes someone else with him!

i do agree with 25THRSS that some people are naturally better drivers than others, but that doesnt means a 16 year old can know how to react to dangerous situations that he's never been in. not even an 18 year old. not even a 30 year old. it's a lifetime process, and you'll never be "good enough."

we all have done crazy shlt that we probably shouldnt have, but the people that DONT EVEN REALIZE that they could have just died, or worse, killed someone else, are the truly dangerous ones. at least most of you seem to realize. i feel a LITTLE better.

Ok, so you guys were asking for more vids so I went and dug some up. Unfortunately these aren't 3rd gens. These are vips from a D1 (Gran Prix) Drifting Comp in Japan. Some guys asked what the point was, these clips should help you understand. Drifting is about complete control of your car, regardless of traction. It has very very close ties to grip roadracing, infact all the cars in the following clips are fully tuned for roadracing. The drivers are just pushing the cars to and over the limit.

Keep in mind now that these are professional drivers with very expensive (sponsored) machines on a professionally prepped roadracing course. The Hawaii drifters really wish we had backing like this ....

Some Nice Drifts:
Asamoto D1 Practice
Nomuken D1 Practice

Tandem Drifting:
Round 1 - Battle 5
Round 1 - Battle 6
Round 1 - Battle 7
Round 2 - Battle 1
Round 3 (finals) - Battle 1
Round 3 )finals) - Battle 2

One day you'll see us out there in our Camaros!!

Revlimit I've been trying to get to a drifting event for a while now but I don't know where to look... where do you get your info on mainland drifting events?

I barrowed my friends Camcorder and at the beginning of the tape was about 10 minutes of footage from a Drift Session back in early/mid 2002. I'm in the process of editing it (already have converted it to MPEG) and will be making a clip of Revlimit and I drifting on the track pretty soon here. It will only be a teaser movie (about 30 seconds long) sorry!! heheheh!! Just gimme some time!!

Ohh those vids were sweet!
and a :hail: :hail: :hail: :hail: :hail: SKYLINE
the pic was too fuzzy to see if it was a R-33 or R-34, and with no spoiler it would be alot harder to tell. man, that rx-7 was owning the event though.
