So what do you guys think?
My L98 IROC-Z (In Sig) vs a 1993 Automatic Lx Mustang 5.0. The mustang has a catback exhaust and 4.11's.
I was thinking it might be close, but I heard if he is at a dead stop, and he smashes the gas, he cannot bark the tires
I got good tires, Posi, 2.77's, and I can lay a nice patch down by just smashing the gas. I know burnouts do not equal power, but Im just saying with 4.11's shouldnt you lay some serious rubber?
I know for a fact he's not running slicks or nuttin, just plain old street tires.

Well you shouldn't have a problem unless you roll up and he has some massive slicks on the back, then you might know why he can't spin em.
I'd be careful man, 9 times out of 10 guys around here are lying sacks of $h*t when it comes to what they have done to their stangs. My friend had an '88 GT and 4.11's and he destroyed his tires... he was only running 15.30, but, he couldn't drive it either. Good luck and let us know. BTW nice lookin car!!

Thanks for the replies guys!
I have very limited knowledge on 5.0's, but isn’t a stock 5.0 motor like our TPI motors? Lots of torque but don’t like high rpms? It seems like 4.11’s would be a poor choice of gears for a stock 5.0 motor.

Yes, an AOD would love a set of 4.10s. That is the single best mod for one. I think the race may be closer than others say. I know why he cant break the tires loose, the AOD. Thats right the AOD keeps his car from busting the tires loose, because of it 2.40 1st gear. So if he doesn't have slicks he will hook. I think you will ein but you shouldn't own him or kill him unless his car is very untuned or beat.

not really, the 302 has a 4'' bore and a 3'' stroke i believe which lets it revv higher than our stock TPI system.....
i he only has those mods you should probably win . i would watch out because 5.0's can be sleepers. i have seen many ugly mustangs that haul ***. just be careful he might have more than he says. i wouldnt bet money

If the guy knows how to leave the line without lighting 'em up, you might be screwed. 5.0's are extremely similar to 350 chevys in that they make about the same amount of power in about the same places. His gearing might prove to be your downfall. Just my two cents.
