Spend 250 on 3" exhaust, reduce turbo lag, quicken spool up, and bolt on nearly 28 HP. The MPI setup made the biggest improvement though. I am working on another intake design that hopefully will add a little more down low Trq. I am looking to get 270-340 from 1500-3000, even thought after 2750 the turbo has kicked in.
Oh and the kicker is...
I still get over 33MPG Hwy and 26 city.

This summer I am looking at going all 2.5" hardpipes, and a larger intercooler. With that is should be good to go into the low 10's(best of 10.45 @ 153.7 right now). I will get that going before looking at a direct port 75 shot that should get more then 9.7's.
Kinda hard to get much faster then that on a street driven car, without stripping the interior. But, either way 10/high 9's is no slouch, specially for a 4 Cyl.
The next thing I REALLY need to do is adapt Cobra brakes to the car. Going fast is nice but those turns come up mighty fast...
And no car does not have a big wing, a loud exhaust, flashy paint (though does have 17"s which should more then hold the 14" 4 piston Cobra brakes) But if the oppisition looks hard enough he could see the 5" tach by the a pillar. And that is the only real sight that says "You feel Lucky?"

yeah a buddy of mine used to have a mitsubishi starion....I never raced him but he says hed cut my sh*t up but his engine blew out before I got a chance to whoop him...someone changed the fuel pump without changing the filter and his fuel filter got clogged and his engine went
so you know........but I guess they can be pretty fast

Speaking of big wings and flashy paint...Theres a Neon running around here with a 3 foot wing, F&TF type silver graphics down the side of the car, dual exhaust and altezzas... I've seen him around 3 or 4 times and have never been able to line up with him yet, but his days are numbered

Conquests are a Mitsubishi/Chrysler venture that came about in 1982 through 1990. From the factory they would run Mid 15's. Now, by doing free mods, this increases to Low 13's.
They came from the factory rated at 200Hp, 260-280 Trq. Mind you that was with a double "Y" design TBI unit, and a Cast Manifold, and a extremly undersized exhaust and restrictive double 'verters.
Now, bolting in MPI alone will boost this number by 40-60 PROVEN WHp depending on the amount of tuning you do to the comuter.
Now Moving to the Exhaust side. By removing the Primary converter, and replacng with a 3" D/P(Down Pipe) will give another 15-20 WHP.
By removing the secondary 'verter and replacing the system with a 3" systems(widely available) will bolt on another 28-32 Hp.(this remains smog legal by adding a single Catco)
Now moving to the header. Replacing the factory manifold with a tuned S/S one(another widely availible part) will increase numbers again by 20-35 AT THE WHEEL.
So call BS all you want. These cars run deep into the 8's at the pro unlimited level.
I am not here to PROVE anything. I not here to sell anything either. This sumer I am redoing the engine with fresh parts, so if you want you can come on up and I will show you just how fast these cars can go.
v6sucker, do you have any slips? That'd help us out the most - or even a video would be great. I just find it hard to believe is all - I hate to be the one who brings in the 1/4 mile calculators in here since so many variables are to be considered, but it looks like you are gonna need about 500 hp to hit mid 10's w/2500 lbs.
If, however it is true, I would DEFINITELY not mind hearing how much it would cost for such a project to be a daily driven 9 second car

10.53 at 154 seems like a mighty high trap speed for that ET. It seems like it should be in the 130s.....or am I off base? Hell I'm a roadracer

All I gotta say is
No way are you trapping 153mph with mid 10 et's
And a 75hp shot aint gonna get you 9.7's either
Jeez....what's the world coming too

enjoy
notice how it didnt pull extreamly hard until after the 60ft mark, sounds pretty resonable to me. but who knows? guy could of been spraying, but none the less, they can be quick.

I believe one can run 10's.....anything can be built to run 10's but mid 10's at 153mph
that just sounds way off base. Then you'll need a hell of alot more than a 75shot of n20 to drop from mid 10's to mid 9's Aint gonna happen....300 hp shot maybe??

My boss with his 33 ford (fiberglass kit) runs 8.97 @ 156mph. Even though he did say he used to have a higher trap speed, but changed around the combo and got be better et's with lower trap speed(Was running 9.06 @ 159). Guess aerodynamics really come into the game at those speeds.
