'84 Firebird vs. GMC Sonoma?

Have any of you guys raced any slightly modded 4.3 S10's/Sonoma's?? The guy in the Sonoma has a few mods, the only one I know about is an intake. The reason I ask is I raced him in my 1997 Tahoe with a Vortec 350 and got spanked

I told him I'd go home and get my 'Bird and he said he was on empty, so I imagine he's had is clock cleaned a time or two by a thirdgen...

My car is a basically stock 1984 Firebird with a 305 with a Holley 600 on it, it's had a fresh rebuild, but the idiot broke a ring putting it back together, so it smokes a tiny bit and burns a little oil I'm just going to drive it how it is until I can get my 377 going. Can my broke Firebird take him?

What year you talking here?

I had a 1991 GMC sonoma.With a rebuilt 4.3.Edelbrock cam and chip,edelbrock tes headers and there intake.Along with a 5.7 TBI.

It ran pretty good for being a v6.My mom has a 96 tahoe with a vortec 350 in it.(330hp crate motor)I know my sonoma would have beat it.

Yea, the 4.3s are quick. I just got a 95 blazer with the 4.3 and it has some pickup. It is faster than my friend's mom's 94 Suburban. The burban has a 5.7TBI motor, but I think the weight just kills it.

i don't know....my 98 S-10 SS truck is faster than my 84 Z28 with cam and a few other goodies. My camaro won't be quicker than my truck until I get the 355 vortec headed motor next winter. BUT the truck is a very fun daily driver. So I wouldn't rule out the sonoma as losing yet.

I thought so... damn... My Tahoe feels faster than my 'Bird, but I wasn't sure if it really is, or just feels that way. I'm thinking it might be, unfortunatly
