I know this is off topic, and I'm probably going to get put on probation for this or something, but I really want some opinions, and I don't know where else to ask.

Last night, after comming home from a night of bowling, after I dropped off my friends, I went to get gas about 5 minutes from my house. It was about 12:00 AM. I get to the gas station, I'm the only one there. I'm about half way done filling up my tank, when a car pulls up right behind me. There's four guys in it about 20 years old each (I'm 18) I'm not racist or anything, but three blacks, one white. The white kid gets out, walks right up to me and just starts yelling at me and insulting me, and just talking ****. First about my car, then just me in general. I just keep pumping my gas, ignoring him. Then his friends get out (The three black guys) and the white kids just starts punching me. i just keep pumping the gas, and one of the black guys comes up and punches me in the back of the head. At this point, i was pretty scared. I mean, what do you do? You just sit there and take it, or do you fight back. I wasn't about to make things worse than they already were, so I did nothing. Each one of them was bigger than me, and I knew I had no chance anyway, and since they already just started beating on me for absolutley no reason, I didn't really know what they'd do if I fought back. Anyway, they finally back off, throw my gas cap across the parking lot, and leave. The gas attendant saw everything, and I'm pretty sure it's on camera.

HEre's my question: My father's a cop, and I got there plate number. Should I go to the cops, file a report and just wait for them to handle it, and hope to go to court and sue or something, or should I have my father run the plates, get there address, and go to there house with a bunch of friends, and do the same to them, or smash up there car or something? I'm just not to sure if I want to wait for the cops, or if they'll even do anything.

So what do you guys think?


Oh, and incase anyone's wondering, I'm not really hurt. They just knocked out a tooth, and my mouth and ear are kinda soar, but all in all I'm fine. I wasn't even in pain when it happened.

in my opinion i'd say tell your dad and give those a*sholes the same treatment they gave you. they have no right to just come up to someone minding there own business and start beating them. i just wanna shoot punks that just think they're such hot sh*t and think that they can just harass anybody they'd like. let your father teach them a lesson on why not to just f*ck with a random stranger minding there business. btw i hope ur not to roughened up from those d*ck heads.

You were standing there pumping gas... and the guy just started hitting you? I would have ignored the shouting, 'cause it was just words, but the minute he starting hitting me, I would have calmly pulled the nozzle out of the tank and sprayed his @ss! Then, I would have pulled out a lighter and asked him if he really wanted to dance. I'm not saying that I would have lit the guy on fire, but a sufficient threat might have made him back off. But, I would definitly get the tape from the gas station and contact the cops.

yeah see if the tape has that incident on it, then use the plate number and your father to get the buttholes in trouble.

 

If it's on tape get them back legally. I'm sure you'd love nothing more than to get them all back but if you go after them in the same fashion they attacked you all creditilly and all chances of legal action goes down the drain. You're smarter than them, go through the judicial system, make em pay that way. Just my opinion

 

Hell yeah man, I would definitely take some legal action. Don't take it onto your own hands cause it will just get worse. Thats realled ****ed up. I can't believe someone would just do that for no reason. Make sure you nail them hard in court!

 

get the cops, get the tape and go to court. I would guess at the least that's assault and battery. esspecially if they knocked out a tooth. Anyone that needs the odds to be 4 to 1 when they run their mouths ought to go to prison anyway. Good luck with these ***holes and let us know what happens.

 

Hey, I know how it feels to have a dad as a cop, and I'm sure nothing would bother him more than to have a bad rep for raising a son who starts trouble when somebody ticks them off. Get the tapes, have the report filed, and watch them squirm in the court. Then, as they go to prison for assault, tell them to hang on really tight to their soap because they just love those young ones!

After that, go and buy their car at the auctions and trash it. Take some pics and send them to him with a big smile on your face!

 

yeah man the tape is the key to puttin these punks in jail. if they dont already have a record and jailtime, they will now. and that can hurt more than physical retaliation.

that's so f*cked up man. i always carry a knife in my car in case somethin like this happens to me and there aint a camera to record it.

 

Well, I followed your guys advice, and went to the cops. I talked to my dad first, at work, and he ran the plate an everything, but unfortunetly, it's a rental car. Anyway, I went to the Woonsocket (town it happened in) police next, and filed the report. They said they'd have a detective look into it (go get the survelence tape, go to the rental car agency to get the info and everything). I don't really know if I believe the cops though, I mean, it might be important to me, but to them, it's just another minor incident. So, my dad is going down to the rental car place tomorrow, with his uniform and unmarked cop car, and he's going to sit in the lot, all day if he has to, to wait for the car to go back. That's assuming it's due back tomorrow, which he will find out. He said he'll get all their info to, and he's gonna wait it out there just incase they somehow used a fake name or address or something...


Oh, does anyone know what stuff you have to have to rent a car? Like, obviously a driver's license, but anything else? Just want to see if it's possible to rent a car using a fake name.

And another thing, it was sort of a wake up call. The cop I filed the report with, said that in all honesty, not only was I lucky to walk out of their with only minor brusies, and my tooth gone, but I was lucky to get out of their alive. He said they were probably just drug dealers, and that it wasn't unsual for them to rent cars and just go out and cause trouble...

And the goddamn gas station attendant...I mean, what is wrong with people these days? HE was about 10 feet from me, and he just sat there watching it. He had a phone right by his hand, and the police station is less than two blocks away! People **** me off.

Sorry, just needed to vent. Anyway, thanks for all the replies, I appreciate it. And, I liked the idea about the gas and the lighter, but I don't think I'd want to risk blowing up my car

 

On another note, yes I was scared ****less That's why I didn't fight back...The thought of them having a knife or a gun was in my mind the whole time

Oh, and another thing...This thoughts in the back of mind: I know it's a little cowardly, but like...I mean, if I do send these guys to jails, or at least some of them, what about their friends, and revenge and stuff? I mean, my car's easy to spot, and it wouldn't be to hard to find out where I live...

 

I used to carry an old soccer sock(long knee highs) with ball bearings in it filling it about a 1/4 of the way. I kept that in the back of my car because in my area it is not uncommon for the other highschool kids to get rowdy after a sporting event. Never used it, but it would probally hurt like hell to get hit with it.

The world is really f^ed up when random people attack you while you are pumping gas. As soon as I legally can, I am goign to start packing some heat.

 

I was thinking of doing something along those lines from now on, maybe a baseball bat on the side of the seat, but just think about this: What if they have a gun or something? That isn't all too uncommon these days...

 

i live about 20 feet away from woonsocket..... where in woonsocket did this happen? it would be really lame if this was actually third gen related, and they were attacking people with nice cars (since they probably don't have cars since they're using rental cars).... which gas station was it, so i won't go there... lol.

 

That's cool. I live in Blackstone (other side of Woonsocket from you...in MA) It was at Hess, on I think South Main St. It's right next to the Burger king, and the police Station.

Another thing, if you live that close to me, maybe we should get together sometime or something. I'm always open to meeting other thirdgenner's.

Just to point out, it's not racist at all, just how it is. I often find myself feeling bad about seeing a group of blaCK guys and being intimidated...in all honesty, the thought of guns. weapons, etc., immediately springs to mind...but stereotypes develop for a reason. The % of gangsters that are black vs. white..I can't remember, some staggering, Dateline-type statistic. This isn't a race-thing, really, I'm sorry if I'm turning it into one and not trying to offend anyone here, but I really feel for ya, dude, and you shouldn't feel bad about what colour they were or sounding racist...ugh. The whole matter pisses me off.

Good choice on taking it to the police. Alot of these guys think they exist above and beyond the law....all it takes is an incident like this to put them in their place >>>prison. dam man... I dont know how far you are, but you cant be that far from where i am now (springfield) Thats just frickin horrible. I have a big MAG light in my beater in case... Just another reason why people should not be pumping there own gas.. being from NJ, its weird getting used to pumping your own gas, way way way to much frickin work... Another thing to worry about now when i get gas... First it was the shock fires, then it was the snippers, now its a bunch of thugs in rental cars... whats next... frickin clown attacks? As far as rental cars go, you have to show driver's liscense, credit card, and possibly proof of insurance, but i am not sure about that last one.

 

Some good news for me, I guess. I got the info from the rental company. Turns out, it was rented to a 38 year old woman, living in Woonsocket. Gave the info to the cops, they said they'd send someone over. I hope that it's one of their mothers, and just not a friend that won't give out any info, and just say she had it the whole time, though...

Anyone know any laws in RI about renting cars? I'm pretty sure in MA you have to be 25 to rent a car, and only the person who rented the car can drive it. If that's true in RI, and she says she was driving it the whole time, I guess I could try to do something with the surveilence tape them, maybe threaten her or something?

Blackstone is right near Bellingham, Frnaklin, Uxbridge, Milford, etc. It's right on the border with RI. Small Town, bout an hour from you.

I'm still in a little pain. The tooth had a cavity in it before. They didn't really knock it out, they broke it off from the cavity up. I have about a quarter of the tooth left, so it's not like it really hurt from getting knocked out. It's fine now, but man did it sting before.

About soaking them with gas and stuff, yeah I thought about it too, but after the incident. You never think of these things while they're happening. It's always a "what if I did this" thing...

And, finally, I don't remember if I said this before or not, and I'm too lazy to look back but The white kid (the one who was right up in my face) definately had something to drink. I could smell the alcohol in his breath. I didn't smell any weed though, but it's always possible. It's not like that was what I was looking for or anything. I was too busy being beaten up

And one more thing. Got the address of the person who rented the car. Drove by the house; real crappy house in a ****ty part of woonsocket. The car was there, but no one was in site (I still don't know if that's a good or bad thing) I just gave it a nice big rev and left, just to let them know, if they were around, that I was on to them. It finally feels like I'm getting somewhere. Cops supposed to go to the house tomorrow to question the lady.

I gave a guy I know 100 bucks for a set of 416 305 heads.Since I gave him the money I have not seen him nor heard from him for 3 weeks or so.(I think it is longer)Now do I go to the cops or not.First off I am 160 pounds and 6'5.I have been in a few fights and can hold my own.He is about 6 foot 250-280.He is a biggo dude.Not muscle though.He is a porker.Also he is always with his "crew"meaning he has 4 or 5 loser's with him all the time.Of course I could have all my freinds go against him.But that would do nothing and get us all in trouble.Plus I wouldn't get the heads or my 100 bucks back.

To make a long story short, I was randomly jumped by four people I'd never seen before. I'm currently pursuing legal action. I'll have more info tomorrow when I go to the poilce station.

Another update.

Today, I was supposed to go to the police station to look at mug shots, but I couldn't get there until about 4:30, and the detective left at 4:00. So, as soon as I get out of school tomorrow, I have to go. If I identify the right person then they'll hold of the arrest until Friday (at my father's request) So they get to spend the weekend in jail.

Anyway, from what I understand, they know who it was, at least one of the kids. My father's pretty sure it's the white kid, which I hope to *** it is, because I'd be able to easily pick him out. He was right up in my face and everything, and I didn't really get a look at two of the black guys. One I remember pretty clearly, but the other two I'm not to sure about. Maybe if I saw the pics I'd remember. But i'm a little scared. If they throw down a buch of pics of black guys, again I'm not trying to be racist, but to me, they'd all pretty much look the same. Dark hair, dark eyes, etc. You know what I mean? That's why I hope it's the white guy.

Anyway, wish me luck. If all goes well, he'll be spending his weekend in jail.

And, I have a question. My father said that the courts wouldn't open until Monday, that's why he'd spend the weekend in jail. Now, does that mean that he'd automatically get a court date on Monday? And if so, would I go to this?
