So i was leaving work the other night, and i pull up to a red light next to a prelude (about 95 model). My buddy was in the car with me and he started talking trash to him. We pulled off the light and i took about 3 cars on him then let off. Then i got up beside him again at about 55, raced him again and left him sitting, and didnt even put it to the floor. Kinda felt bad because he knew he was gonna get beat. not really but it was still fun.

Those prelude owners try so hard..haha
IF I had to drive an econobox, my choice would be the prelude as it wears a unique body style that looks as it if it slightly styled in american car friendly kinda way..haha am I making sense?
I guess it just looks different than all the other 87 octane rust buckets.

Well the Prelude is no slouch for what it is. It however is not in the same class as an F-body. I know two Prelude owners. I tried to run them but niether one was game for it.
One guy who owns one of the Preludes looked at my car, under the hood and said "I don't think I would have any real chance" and we never ran. My cars nothing special yet but this guy owned a 1984 Z28 HO and he knows that the F-bodies just seem to get faster the older they get. He figured an 87 TA would be out of range for his Prelude.
The other guys said "not until I get my NawZZZZZZ!!" That guy is extrememly fat. I thought about telling him to invest in weight watchers before the N20. He's pushing 375lbs. How he squeezes into that car just bogles the mind. I'll give props to Honda for a sturdy frame design.

good kill, i ran ones of the newer body styles at a light and it took me by a half a car (1/8th mile from a light), so i think he most definitely had nitrous and or sometype of power adder or some engine work, he was quicker than me for sure. i didnt expect all that from that car.

I lost to one from a roll. It's not like he blew me away or anything, but it was embarrassing none the less. However, I blame my dying tranny and the fact that my t-tops were off. I know. Excuses, excuses.

I know exactly what you mean. I really like the look of the newer preludes. Very nicely styled.
i hate every one of them and everything about them, and i wish they never existed. but thats just my opinion.

What don't you like about them? Im' not saying you should like them or anything, I'm just curious as to why you hate them so much.

Its not a huge victory, granted us L03 guys have to take what we can get until we can afford some major mods. Any way if it was a 95 and was anything other than the Vtech model the most power it would have is 160hp and weigh in at almost 3000lbs.
a 95 looks like this
If its like a 97 or so and up its atleast 195hp and up to 200hp, all of them were Vtech powered. and look like this.
Its fun to kill these cars that everyone thinks are so bad ***, but since they didn't spend the extra cash for the fast one, they just get beat up on.

There's some retarded kid running around Va Beach with a prelude with the license plate "2L8V8" that's supposedly pretty quick. I've called him out to race several times since he goes around bragging about how his 'lude is such a V8 killer but he won't step up to the plate

Member
Nic, I don't think I would race you either, unless it was just for fun. I like the looks of the 95ish preludes, they do look kind of American.

I have a friend that has a 2002 'lude and we've run a couple of times. The T.A. gets spanked every time. The thing is, I just turn to my other car and spank him back harder than he does to the T.A.
'99 Contour that runs 14.2 at mid 90's seen here http://www.bnmotorsports.com I've had it since new, so of course I've spent more in terms of total dollars spent being a newer car. Sticker was $18,900 plus mods over 5 years of ownership. That's one reason I got the T.A.... Heck, I'd be running 10's easy with the same money... Still, there's something funny about building a 4 door grocery getter that outruns stock sport cars of just over ten years ago...

Ok, if i drove an econobox, (and i do sometimes) I would NEVER EVER NOT EVEN IF PIGS FLY AND HELL FREEZES OVER THREE TIMES think about buying a honda. I mean WTF - if you want to get groceries, get something cheap and why not buy something made in the USA!!!!IF I had to drive an econobox, my choice would be the prelude as it wears a unique body style that looks as it if it slightly styled in american car friendly kinda way..haha am I making sense?
I know a guy who bought a new Prelude for $30k+ and he says it runs 15s - for $30k my ****ing car could win national drag races
Sure wish I had $30k+!!!!!!!!
:hail:
Well, the only reason i dont like the preludes isnt because its a honda, dont get me wrong, i hate hondas, But i just dont like them, its not because i cant like them. I dont like the body styles, and i dont like the way honda subtitutes "V-Tec" for displacement. Ive heard so many people say "i hate hondas, except the preludes" But what is so different about them? I know several people around my town who have really fast hondas, ive seen some at the track running in the 13's, with a bunch of money involved, but just imagine if one of us took that much money and put it into our car. Just makesd me sick.
Oops, sorry, having computer problems

Don't mean to start anything but I like the preludes the best out of the honda's. My friend has a 94 Prelude VTEC and stock they are at like 190 hp. The Si model is 160 hp. Unless the LO3 had a good amount done, he wouldn't keep up with a vtec one. My friend ran a 15.4 stock in his. It's not incredibly fast but nothing to really laugh at either. A bunch of import tuners don't like the ludes because of the weight. What they like about them is the good old H22 engine that they drop in hatchback civics. Instant high 13's there if they can drive. Originally posted by Jokerman
