anyone got any info on this car that beat me
any help would be appreciated
a couple days ago im coming home from a friends house, well im coming back on the highway and this thunderbird comes up from behind me, passes me and then slows down and gets beside me (its a 4 lane), and i down shift to fourth and were sitting beside one another and then i step on it then he does, well he consistently pulls away from me. we went from about 60 to 115, i shifted perfectly and never let off
well we get to town and stop at the light beside one another, i roll down my window to ask what the guy has for a motor and its like a 40 year old guy and hes being all cocky about how he just beat my V-8 with his 4 cylinder and then he says some smart *** remark and then speeds off
how did this happen, i dont mind when a mustang beats me that much, but i cant stand a thunder chicken beating me

think about it like this...you got beat by a 4,000 lb mustang 
the turbo coupes were rated at 190 hp from the factory...you can put them in the 13's for next to nothing

if it was a 4 cylinder, it was definitely turboed (turbo'd? turbod?
) most of the thunderchickens came with non-HO 5.0's, but you could also get a turbo 4 and a s/c'd 6

the dude said it was so im assumint it was, couldnt hear it (the turbo)though but at 100+ with the window down you cant hear much

Yeah, don't forget TPI isn't exactly the best breather. You should of raced him from a stop too. I wouldn't race a guy on rollerblades after a 60mph roll with my 305...

ouch!!! turbo coupe... ooooh boy. Lots of people dont know about thoes cars. There the same as the SVO Stang. 2.3 4cyl tubro. they can be very quick. I think there quicker stock then the SC'ed newwers ones, but i could be wrong. they probably are, because the 3.8's head gasket will blow before the race is over hehehehe. Im thinking of gettin anothor ford for a beater, and get a 3.8 sc'ed bird. the taurass is alright, but need some quickness. What i really need is a 40mpg car for college.

Now It is a used car and there really is no telling what was done to it before I got it. The car has always been this way and as far as I can tell it was stock before I bought it.

you were going 60 and you only downshifted to fourth? You should have been able to go to third, possibly even second with high gears like most tpi's had, at speeds aproaching 80 or so your low end isnt gonna do as much as your top end (4000-4500) even with the sufficating tpi

i guess noone read my sig
i have teh L-69 so from a roll i haul butt
and i have 3.73 rearend gears, and we were closer to 70 when we started probably, top end of fourth gear is only around 85 or 90 so i was just hitting the power band when we took off
for my car i did it the best way to do it, and he still beat me

i got beat by a taurus SHO one time. it was like the first timei had ever seen one, and i remeber laughing at him, tell he left me.
but i have beaten SHO's alot since then, so im guessing he had some work put into it. he stomped me pretty bad though.

Before I had any mods at all I tied a late 80s/ early 90s tbird SC. I'm guessing he was stock too. Boy, I'd love to find him again... I'd say the guy had a modded 4 cylinder turbo or modded SC. If it would have been from a roll it'd have been your race.
