What's the fastest of the LT1 fourth Gens? SS and Ws6 Ram air?
Just curious what LT1 car runs quickest in the quarter. Apparently the ram air package adds 20 hp but on some LS1 cars the Z28's and SS cars are hardly different due to production differences. My guess is that the Ram Air Trans Ams are fastest. I saw on a website that a guy ran a 13.75 with only a K&N and absolutely nothing else.
check out www.camaroz28.com and go into the lt1 section and do a search for stock times. there are plenty of bone stock m6 lt1's in the 13.7-8 range. doesnt seem to matter what package it came in. just depends on how well maintained the car is/was. ive seen a 97 auto z28 run a 13.7 bone stock. the car only had 12k miles. thats definetly not the norm though. on average of all years and packages 13.8-13.9 seems to be the bone stock times. of course some that arent maintained as well will run around 14.3-14.0.

primer84z is correct in his analysis. Some stock LS1's are running 12.9 Bone stock (good driver and good conditions) and most are low to mid 13's all day long. I have a bone stock M6 LT1 (besides a K&N FIPK) and I am going to the track soon and I will let you know. But from what I have read I am hoping for a 13.8-13.9.
hight to mids for a LT1 is not out of the ordinary. The fastest LT1's stock would have to be the LT4 models. Yes, i know thats not a LT1, but its dam near close. the LT4's had over 300hp.. i belive 305? and then the LS1 had 305 stock and jumped up to 345 in the WS6 and 350 in the vettes. LT4's are rare. But the fastes LT1's would be the 97 SS models i belive with the SLP package of hood and better intake and exhaust.
I would say the fastest LT1's would be a stripped down 94 or 95 Z28 which came with the biggest cam of any year LT1. Most SS' are heavy and are not much faster than a Z28, if not a tad slower. The LT4 is completely different. It has better flowing heads, bigger cam, different intake, etc. Keap in mind, the factory ratings really mean nothing. GM says the LS1 has 305 flywheel hp, when they usually put down more than that to the rear wheels stock.

I pretty sure the LT1 Camaro SS is the fastest. It's hood is functional and they weigh less than the TA's.
I included the Lt4 incase he was just talking about 4th gen v. 1.0 in genreral. The fastest ones are probably the SS's, but it all depends.. the only thing you can look at is hp ratings.. different people will run different times.

i bought my girlfriend a 1994 Formula (auto w 3.23s) for Christmas. the car has 113k on it, but it runs great. with nothing more than a K&N cold air kit i ran a 13.75 at 100.81mph. that night i only got 1 run in due to the track being so crowded. if i had more time to play with it, i think i could have coaxed it into the 13.5s or so

I had a 96 TA auto with 3.23 gears and it only ran 14.2's but I guess the upper 90 degree humid day had a little to do with that. It was completly stock with around 22k on it at the time. I'm sure it woulda ran 13's on a cooler day/night and with dr's

H.P. ratings....
93 models had 275 hp. ( single cat)
94-97 LT1 Trans Ams, Formula, and Z-28's had 285 hp. ( dual cat)
96 and 97 RAM AIR WS6 Firebirds and SS Camaros had a 305 hp rating.
I did not know about the 94 and 95 Z's having the biggest cam of any year though.
How much heavier is the WS6 Trans Am than the SS or Z-28???
