4-Cyl Firebird vs. 8-cyl Trans Am
4-Cyl Firebird vs. 8-cyl Trans Am
Ok, we all know who would win this one. Simple, right? However, I wonder by HOW MUCH would I win? There's a hick down my street boasting how he owns a Firebird. Everyone that knows anything knows it's the bastard child of Pontiac that shouldn't have been born. It's a 3rd gen, don't know the year but I'm pretty sure all models run >100hp. I don't want to give him any impression he "almost had" or "kept up" with me. Thanks for the help!
83TA
180hp (new 305) - the rest is stock.
8? Firebird
93-100hp (old engine) along with the stock rest. He has a new antenna though!

I believe the firebird came first, 1967. The first trans am model was in 1969.
Without the firebird, you would have no trans am.
Anyways, you will win.
Oops, I meant the 4-cyl Firebirds as in the topic. I know that the TA's real name is a "Firebird Trans-Am", I'm not THAT dumb. But a TA with a 4-cylinder is the bastard child of Pontiac that never should've been born. Hell, my brother's riced Saturn will waste it no problem. My 83 Ford F250 will waste it.

Oh, you'll beat him plenty bad. I had a 83 firebird 4cyl and it was pathetically slow. I had problems getting on the highway with it......till I put a 5.7TPI from a 88 IROC in it
It won't be anything to worry 'bout

Beating him is no question. It's by how much that I want to know. If I beat him by 4 car lengths then I don't think it's worth it. If it's more like 6-10 car lengths I'd be interested. I'm going for humiliation, not for a standard race... it'd be a waste of time and fuel for a regular race.

launch it hard off the line without spinning and you will totally whomp him out and keep pulling.
how much?
how long you wanna run?
in the 1/4 id give you a full 5 secs if not more faster... id say higher, but i dont know exactly how slow either of you are.

Well considering a car length is roughly a tenth, you'll humiliate him all right
My 4 popper firebird would've been lucky to crack a 20 second 1/4

Well, if you had a formula it'd be easier to do but considering you have a trans am....he aint gonna be fooled into thinking it is.... at least I'd hope not.

It's this kind of use of an Iron Duke that puts people off of the engine.
That car is MUCH too heavy and MUCH too sporty for that engine.
