If the GTA is a 350, then it will be close. C&D rated the new Maxima at a 15.0, I believe. Is the Maxima a manual? If not the GTA might win. But if it is the manual version, he better know how to drive it. I remember C&D saying the "drive-by-wire" throttle was tricky to get used to.....

both cars are atomatic. so yeah it should be a close race. My friend with the max says that he could beat that old pos (meaning the gta). what i didnt tell you guys is that my friend has the 350 tpi but he is going to convert it to a Carbureted engine. Now is this going to give him back some horsepower at the wheels

is he changing the heads or anything else? or is he just slappin on a carb and intake manifold and calling it a day? i believe he will lose some low end torque but peak at higher rpms thus giving him a wider power band.
if i were him id just play around with the tpi, since the cam and heads are made for that
just my 2 cents

im the guy with the GTA and im in the middle of swapping a L98 paired with a 700R4 tranny into another trans am body with a T-5 tranny. i want to switch to carb since the new body has no computer in it and i figured it would be a huge PITA to transfer all those wires. im hoping to get some more power in it with the carb swap so i can comfortably spank my friends 2003 maxima at the track and maybe a few other imports

You might lose some low end with the carb but gain top end power(could be a lot, could be minimal). Overall power might stay the same though
