Not 3rd gen related, but I was impressed - Civic vs. LS1

We were hangin out a party last weekend when my friend gets a call that someone in a TSi wants to race his Probe (13 second ride), so we hop in the PGT and run on out to CARRRS. When we pull up, there's probably about 50 people gathered around these two guys in front of a white Civic hatch. About 5 minutes later, they all pile into their cars to go to the spot so we decided to go check it out. So we get there, and he lines up with an LS1 Trans Am that obviously has exhaust and has a set of BFG drag radials on the back. They take off, you hear the civic spinning, and the TA puts a couple cars on him right out of the hole and had about a 3 - 4 car advantage through the first 330' or so, but that's all she wrote for the TA. The Civic finally hooked up and started to pull on the TA like it was in reverse. It flew by the TA and had about 3 cars on him by the end of the race (~1/8th mile). So later on, we go check out the TA and the Civic. The guy in the TA told me he ran consistent 13.0's. The Civic, meanwhile, had an LS VTEC with a T04 on it. Someone made a comment about it running 11.9's on radials.

As for what happened between the PGT and the TSi...never heard anything about the TSi after we got there.

yeah a friend of a friend at the track ran his similar setup in his crx and runs 13 flat, and still has a 100 shot of nitrous left.

i raced this guy on the street and got about a 1 and 1/2 lead from a light untill i hit drive and bam, the turbo is going crazy and he finally hooks up and left me like i was in reverse also.

i need more power :lala:

Yeah, one of the few imports around here that I actually have some respect for is a Civic that runs 13.3 @ 109. He's redoing the whole thing and going for 11's next year. They can be made quick, just like any other car. I still wouldn't waste the money on a Civic, but I have much respect for what he's done with it.

There's a Civic running low 12's NA at my local track. Plenty of DSM's running in the 11.5-13.5 range. One has a plate that reads IHUNT V8. Ouch!!!
