'92 Formula vs. 240sx KA-T

Coming home from a friend's house, pulled up beside an S13 240sx. He was already jacking around before I pulled up next to him....messing around with his BOV.

Anyway, I roll down my window and ask him what he's got...says KA24DE with custom turbo kit, pushing 6 psi. I asked him what it'll run in the quarter (BTW, my other car is a '93 240sx, some mods + stripped)...says he ran 13.9 the other night (perfect weather, altitude 900ft, on slicks). Now keep in mind, I have just a stock L98 A4 (K&N and Flowmasters)....I figure f-it and ask him if he wants to run. He agrees and at the next light we go for it.

I must've hit a slick spot (had been raining the past week) because I spun widly in 1st, giving him a car length. His turbo hadn't spooled up yet so I caught up quickly and took about a car and a half on him. Still pulling up to 2.5 cars, the his turbo kicks in and he gets dead even with me, maybe inches a bit ahead. We're even until 90, where we both let off.

Next light he said he saw me spin and asked if I wanted to run again...hell yeah I said This time I make sure there's no water around, and even still I ease on the throttle. By 60 I'm about 3 length ahead, then he starts to inch forward and by 90 he's less than a carlength behind.

We both slow down to the speed limit and I ask him if he wants to go from a roll @ 20mph. He syas what the hell and we slow down to about 20. He honks 3 times and we're off. I get about a car on him immediately, and pull to almost 2 cars, then he catches up and leaves me at his front tire. Again, we both let off at 90....

We pull over into Quik Trip to show off each other's cars. His car was really rough looking, but the engine was immaculate He had a small FMIC, T3 turbo, Blitz BOV, 6psi Deltagate wastegate, and some other goodies. I tell him my other car is a '93 240sx and we sit there and talk for about an hour until an employee asks us to leave

Good race(s) I'd say, considering his car weighs 500lb lighter and was a 5sp. I'm happy, especially because I've only had my car 11 days and already beting turbo'd 240's!

You be careful with that formula now...we already discussed how rare it was.

nice kill... IMO the best speed to race from a roll in our L98's is at 35mph.. perfect rpm range in second gear...
