me vs 94 trans-am
finally got to run my buds trans am. its A4 with a catback. We went out to some industrial park and went twice. First was from a 1st gear roll. He got the jump, but I pulled back and put 1 car on him up to about 90-100. Second run from a dig. pulled up to about 100 again, and got him by half a car. The whole time i was shifting at 5000, and quite slowly. Once i get this manual thing down Ill look towards some LS1 kills.

I wouldn't get your hopes to high about beating LS1s, not without some n2o anyways.

yeah, right on about that tranny there, i just sheared the bolts off the slave cylinder for the clutch about 30 minutes ago. The LS1 kills will hopefully be after switchin the cam to the 280 H magnum, and the performer rpm dual plane, should bring the peak power to about 350 at 5200, and the torque is gonna kill. Also plannin on weldin the rear end, gettin some poor mans posi goin on. THEN it may be LS1 time. and like you said the N2O wouldnt hurt either.

By welding the rear end do you mean the welding the spider gears together? If so I hear thats bad for your rear end but hey its your car more power to ya. Also are you running stock cop car caprice heads on that car? If so I would swap them out those heads flow like crap. If I were you I would invest in the upgraded vortecs that sdpc2000 sells to go along with the new cam and intake then you shouldnt have any problems with Ls1's. Good Luck oh and nice kill.

the heads have had some major work done to them, so the vortecs would yield a bit of a gain, but i just bought the performer intake, so id have to sell that somewhere, and get the vortec one. I do have some fully ported and polished double hump heads with 2.02/1.60 valves with erson roller rockers that i can get for 300 from a good friend, but im not sure about puttin heads of that quality on this lil 311. Id rather start hording them for the 355 build-up
OH YEAH. I already got the short block, so ill get ur done soon hopefully.
About weldin the spiders, yup i know its bad, buts its mainly an incentive to put in the 8.5 corp. rear end thats sittin in the shop. I know its gonna break something...but sometimes thats the fun part.
