95 Stealth

One of my buddies just bought a 95 Dodge Stealth R/T, non-turbo, 5spd, stock. I believe it has around 222 hp, and a little bit more torque, who would win, I definitely gonna guess him, he says is is pretty fast, but he did just come up to that car from a non turbo talon, so I don't know, but I still think he has the upper hand. Thanks!!

It could be close but you should take him, they are like mid 15 second cars. They are actually pretty heavy and the front wheel drive won't help him much either.

You should be able to take him in the ES or the Base form. The best I could find for a non turbo car in times was a 15.4@91mph. No sluch but not a rocket either.

As usual it has more HP than torque. 222HP and 201lbs/ft of torque.

UPDATE

Well I didn't get to race him, but me and Dustin (del91_305) were out last night in his car and I see my buddy, so we pull over to get behind him. Of course he wants to race so we turn off of the highway and we stop at a light, we both gun it and instantly Dustin pulled like a car on him, then we had to let up because of traffic, I think it would be a better race with no traffic, but we'll catch him out again I'm sure.

You see, I know that my buddy's car is an R/T, but it is a non-turbo model. I don't know maybe somebody just put the R/T emblem on the car before he got it.

I have the Mitsubishi version of that, that would be pretty sad if you couldn't take him in a quarter mile.

those cars have less torque than HP, but mine has 3.9 LS so torque isn't a problem in most cases.

I wouldn't surprised if it was some kind of R/T wanna-be, but I thought the TT was the VR-4 equivelent then there was the R/T and the ES? if that's the case, then 222hp is the mid model and you don't have much to worry about with a GTA.

mine is 218hp, I went nose to nose with a mustang GT before, that's about when my friend was screaming "slow down, your crazy" so I did and that was the end of that.

I like my 3000 GT and all, but I'd take a nice GTA over it any day. Plus, you don't need a million dollars just to do basic mods with a thirdgen. I hope your friend knows what he is getting into, they are nice cars though, it will last forever if he takes care of it.

i've met a lot of people that have the misconception that r/t was to stealths as vr4 was to 3000gt's but r/t was basically just a name for a few extra "sporty" options-most noteably the body kit. the majority of them still only have the non turbo 3.0 dohc. it's not real easy to tell the difference between a turbo and non turbo r/t. my friend does have a 92 r/t with auto, no turbo, and my formula smoked him by 4 to 5 car lengths just up to 80 or so, and that was with letting him launch first and just stomping from idle. I'd imagine your gta would have a car length or two at least, even against a 5 speed.

Yea it was a pretty good race, but it would be better if it would have lasted longer. We took off and he didnt get good traction, i figured when he came out of first and got traction he would instantly pull on me but he hit second and was not able to catch me.i thought i would get beat because i get beat by the new V6 eclipses with 22 less horsepower. Im gonna race him again but by then ill have my rear end
