My T/A VS 600cc bike....
Would i get wasted on the highway from a 2003 Yamaha R6? I know someone who has one and said he would race me on the freeway but i think i would probably get wasted? I know it tops out higher but could i get infront enought to shut it down before he passes me? Anyone have experience with 600cc sportbikes? My T/A's mods are in my sig.
It seems to do actually well on the highway untill about 120MPH and then the acceleration slows down because i cant go WOT in OD.
Any thoughts?

u will get destroyed, here are the specs:
2003 R6
0-60 mph 3.35 sec.
Top Speed 158 mph
Horsepower 105.4 @ 12,750 rpm
Torque 44.7 ft.-lb @ 11,750 rpm
1/4 Mile 11.01 sec. @ 125.27 mph
Weight: 415 lb.
especially on the highway, all he has to do is downshift and hes gone, u could run from a stop but unless ur pulling a 10 second time slip you wont beat him there either, bikes are faster than most cars (had to be politically correct) my dad has an 1987 honda hurricane 1000cc 4 cylinder the only bike honda made at the time that ran under an 11 second e.t. u can hit 55 mph in first gear. but hes selling hit and wont teach me how to ride
ive ridden dirt bikes but man i want a street bike, ok strayed from the subject. videotape the run just for ****s and giggles! hope that helped!

When you're running on the highway from speed, it takes away the necessity for the bike rider to be very skilled. In other words, all he has to do is snap the throttle open and you are dead meat. The new Kawi 600 is running high 10's in stock form on stock tires, and the R6 is just a tick behind it. Thing about it, what would a 10 second car to do you? You will be having a meal of Humble Pie ':hail:'
...feel free to pick on Harleys, you can probably beat most of them, but stay away from the SportBikes. If it's a quick stoplight to stoplight drag race, most of the riders have no idea how to launch them without looping them. Don't let them get up to speed, or they'll blow by you like you're in reverse.

actually from what i heard the R6 is ahead of the Kawi, the 03 R6 runs a 10.80. I know there fast off the line but wasn't sure how they are from a roll of 60mph, i thought maybe there midrange on the highway they wouldn't be THAT quick.

that quick compared to what? look at the power to weight ratio in the stats it doesnt have that much torque (not that it needs it) from 60- 100 + it doesnt matter its in its top end which is where all the power is, its a racing bike lol its fast in any situation and its just a light weight road course bike not even one meant for drag racing per say, that kind of power scares me its SCARY fast.

Yam R6 1/4 mile 10.80
Kawi ZX 6 1/4 mile 10.67
Same track, same day, same rider. The Yamaha is a better handler in stock form, but that isn't what we were talking about. That should cover that.
Kawis suck? Name one Yamaha that has ever held the worlds' fastest/quickest production bike. There are NONE. I can name 5 Kawis who owned it almost exclusively for 30 years running, Suzuki for 4 years, even Honda had it for 2 years, but never EVER Yamaha. You have to be totally horsepower dominant to be both fastest (top speed) and quickest (1/4 mile). Yea, Kawasaki has fallen on hard times lately, but I think that's about to change.

yeah bikes are quick as all get out from a roll and if a guy can get it up to 55 then like stated above most of the skills of riding it are out, you just downshift and turn back on the handle bar and shift... and even 600's are fast as *****....

Yeah, bikes are no joke at 0-about 150mph. That's when drag starts to hold them back big time. So if you can run up hight with a good gear and about 400-500hp then you could hang, maybe. My friend has a 01 GSXR 1000 that, stock, runs 10.20's at about 129mph. He's such a good rider that he can take out most novices that ride hyabusas and Yamaha R1's. A 600cc engine is going to run very low 11's. so you better pack some heat.

Yamaguy:
Yes, you can say "frist" place all you want.
We were not talking about roadracing, that is more skill centered than bike centered. Trust me here, I have seen great riders do amazing things with crap machinery, both cars and bikes, and that doesn't happen with drag racing, especiall roll ons. I never said "yamaha sucked". I want to buy a new bike this year, it might be an R1, but it might just be a ZX 10R, which seems lighter and is reported to have a few more HP, but I'll wait for the sales BS to die down and get the real information from an impartial source.
I have won racing contingency money on 3 different brands of bikes, and have (lapsed) roadracing and supercross competiton licences, and have worked in the motorcycle industry for 25 years. I have an open mind and will wait and see which will be the better bike for me. I always prefer what everyone else is NOT riding or driving.
The whole point I was trying to make is that, in stock form, the Kawi 6R will outrun the Yamaha R6 in a straight line. You are the one that doesn't like reality and feels compelled to defend his precious brand. I really don't care...
This was never a discussion of styling, handling, or of your consistiently incorrect information. Kawasaki and Suzuki are now sharing R&D to combat the larger Honda and Yamaha R&D facilities. Nobody bought anybody else.
And regarding your other
comment about Ram Air, the first company to put ram air on motorcycles is Kawasaki. Hmm. Seems everyone else copied them. If you only judge a machine by it's styling and the name printed on the tank, you must be pretty young still.
12 years ago, Kawasaki dominated Superbike racing worldwide, had killer styling and Yamaha was more interested in selling cruisers. Now the shoe is on the other foot, and Kawasaki seems to have woken up to the fact that they have let things slide. No more Mr. nice guy, they were always the horsepower kings, and they want to get that image back. Stay tuned. And check your facts before you make a statement. Not everyone out here is clueless.
Wait a minute, isn't this board about cars? I consider this discussion over.
Your car sucks!! (whatever it is)

You'd definitely get smoked...power to weight ratio on sports bikes is ridiculous. Nothing is better than a top of the line sport bike including an Enzo Ferrari. Personally I've actually been looking into getting a Gixxer 600. I kind of regret turning down buying one last year, I was approved for a loan and everything, but backed out last minute. I love those Suzukis I don't think anything is better than a GSXR1000 right now...but a 1000 is too much for me.

second, TA seems to know a lot more than anyone here, and I agree with everything he said
third, wow many of you even have bikes?
600's are quick and yes i do ride, but they can be beaten by a mid - high 11 sec car. my friends 3000gt VR4 with upgraded turbos stomped one on the highway from 80 till about 140 then the bike backed off

Ya, youll be in for a stompin. I wouldn't waste the gas, bikes are just too fast. Oh and we should keep this on topic but Yamaha makes by far the best looking bikes and even if kawas 600 (636cc?, hmm) is quicker, I'll take the r6 with that 15.5 redline.

just for some of your info, the Kawi ZX6R is 636 cc but the ZX6RR is a true 599cc bike. And Kawasaki and suzuki are sharing some of the samller cc dirtbikes. and the KFX 250 and RMZ 250 MX bikes are the same
unfortunatly, other than plastic and stickers. I am not so sure about the Street bike class but in MX the Yamaha YZ125 and 250 have wone most of the bike shootouts for more power and better handeling in the last few years. even though I hate yamahas and Suzukis, facts are facts.
I plan on getting a ZX6R when the money becomes available. but I agree that most bikes will stomp on a stock thirdgen.

yeah people sometimes just have no comprehension of how fast bikes really are, the power to weight ratio is ridiculous. I would rape half of the people on this board (including my car... obviously) on my '89 Honda 250R or '01 Honda 400EX in the 1/4 mile... with the dirt tires on

And if you ask a stunt guy, the best bike around is a Honda 900 RR
AND WHEELIES AND YAMAHAS don't mix, all the oil runs out of the engine and into the trans. So much for you 5 mile wheelie idea, unless you love spending money on a rebuild

I know an R6 or any 600cc bike would rip my car a new one in the 1/4 but from what i heard a stock '02 WS6 T/A could take one no problem from a roll, so i figure i might be able to at least keep up, but i guess the info i got was wrong.
