92 RS vs. 97 Escort

My friend just bought a Ford Escort. If we were to race who would win?

My car:

1992 Camaro RS
3.1 V6
Automatic

His car:

1997 Ford Escort Sport
2.0 I4
Automatic

Both cars a stock.

Why I just happened to have almost that exact same race my friends 91 v6 RS against my 97 escort (mine is a stick shift so its a little faster than an auto) and I got walked bad from a stop. He has 2.2 liters and 110 hp at the flywheel...just wave goodbye to him.

Egads - my '89 GP had a 3.1 LHO (transverse-mounted, so whatever, right?) and I would destroy Escorts - but no one I knew actually thought their Escorts were mini-Mustangs...

Yes, but its a freakin 3rd gen V6 for cryin out loud, they aren't exactly massive powerhouses (cept for the TTA V6's, but I'm not counting them).

ESCORT???????????

The day I wonder if my car can beat an escort is the day I pour gas all over it and flick a match

110 at the flywheel?

you should see your mechanic pronto, get a tune up.

The V6 thridgens aren't all that powerful, but they sure have more torque than a 2.2 motor.

The escort might be lighter, tighter tranmission and all computer controlled smooth....but even an RS should take it off the line.

Just race and get this nonesense over with.
