Imports

Older imports, Hondas, 2nd gen DSMs, mostly 4 cyl cars. Older model pickups (even V8 models oddly enough). Other V6 f-bodys, some 4th gen Firebirds we're geared wrong. Since you have a 3.1, i'd say you have a good chance against non-TPI 3rdgens. If your motor is running good, and I mean GOOD, I'd suggest a 50-75 shot. A cam would help alot, maybe port the heads. You stand a pretty good chance, don't let the V8 guys get you down, THEY have to spend money to keep up with modern cars too (which, by the way, will OWN you). Hope I helped.....

my friends brother has a 92 bird 3.1 auto and he can beat v6 mustangs any day, hondas, and his cousin has a hyundai tiburon, beats him all the time and my other friend has a 85 bird with LG4 and can beat him to. the 3.1 is nothing to laugh at.

The 3.1 is no really fast car... although on the street it usually has more torque than most imports giving it an advantage. I have beaten a 200? Altima...2.5.... it was kinda slow. but he wanted to go so i let him have it. I really dont get very many challenges to race... must be because people think my car is fast.

I have a 2.8L V6, so I should be slower than you. You can look at one of my post were I ad 2 kills out of 3 cars: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=235904

i know the 3.1 is not the fastest thing but my friends brother has a friend who has a 91 bird and he got his 3.1 to do 15.9 in the quarter mile stock, i was reading a article in hot rod that they got a 92 rs camaro 305 throttlebody to bo 16.something in the quarter, so......

not a whole lot other then the cheap old imports

you will hear a lot of 3.1 ppl saying don't underestimate them

underestimate what though?

talk to those who do have fast cars v6 here running mid 15's
it wasn't easy for them (well unless you talk to the topaz kid if anyone remembers him )

too much weight not enough motor

they are a decent car and are great for driving around but not really a performance car as it sits

even a decent amount of the new hondas would be hard
some of the 80's imports will hand it to you
best bet would be race for fun not for winning

Do what import guys do

Gut the car, all you really need is a drivers seat anyway . Oh, and as far as performance goes, we got eyeryone beat in the slalom!!! LOL like that matters.
