I love it when imports think they got more ballz than domestic muscle. Just because they weigh less doesn't make up for cubic inches.

Actually, weight is the ONLY thing that makes up for not having displacement. After all, the ONLY thing that really matters is power to weight ratio anyway. I was looking through an air-cooled Beetle magazine once, and read an article about one guys bug that was running a 10.6 with under 260hp. Let's face it, a 10.6 is a 10.6 and you don't see any American muscle running times like that with that little power. You don't even see any compacts running times like that with that little power.

They run with boost to make power. Most of them. All motor runs are real impressive but most have power adder.
So what about the weight issue. boost our cars and we can run same times LOL. Just makes more power. We got bigger engines that can haul around more weight. That advantage of more cubes means need to make more power to compensate for weight. So really, there is no excuse when it comes to what car runs what with what. LOL Understand what I am trying to say here? A small piece of apple compared to bigger apple, its still an apple. just size that matters.
Advantage of being light in the import world means smaller motor and hp limited. Big muscle cars are heavy but have large engines and make infinite power. LOL

ya theres no replacement for displacement obviously but weight can undermine a powerful vehicle tremendously. Just look at the new lotus elise with its wimpy 200hp. seems slow but when you factor in a car that weighs next to nothing, you realize its 4.3 0-60 time is accomplished with little need for big power. However it all depends because I saw a 68 chevy SS with AC and all the bells and wistles and it weighed under 3000lbs WITH the driver. Combine that with the 600+HP it made. Power to weight is what its all about

There were a few different blocks used for the 4" bore, large journal motors (302, 327, 350) but 010 is by far the most common. Thats the block I have, and prolly also the same block that 90% of the pre-roller 350 guys here at TGO have as well.
I got one of the worst L48 engines made. It runs well, but it was a dog at only 180hp. Its prolly got 220 now after minor bolt ons. I figure 220 because it can keep up with L98 cars pretty well.
But L48 is only an RPO code, just like LT-1, LM-1, L-82, L-83, L-88, LS-6, Z-28 (yes, in '67-69, this was actually just and engine RPO for the 302).... they are all just RPO codes.

I'm sorry sir, but was that reply directed just to me, because I said bump and I'm new? Sorry that I've been out cruising and have never known about forums, what they are, or really even known how to use the Interwebz in the past. Or else I would of joined this forum 10 years ago, to satisfy you!

Actually the newbie comment was directed toward JaggedJames24 who managed to dig up this gem of a 5yr old thread. Guess the search function does work.

With a reply like that you're making a heck of first impression for being a new member. Keep up the good work

But FYI, not everyone just joining this forum in 2009 is going to be some clueless kid, new to American muscle cars. So greet them with a

Well, that's exactly what I'm saying, never know who's behind the computer or screen name, could be Tom Nelson himself from NRE. It just didn't seem very respectful in the first place to say "Newbies". Sorry for any confusion with that though.

Re: civic si vs camaro
Well let me start out by apologizing. Not to you but everyone that has had to put up with you sence Sep 02'
When you call someone a Newbie it pisses them off "It's the same as calling them a Dumb ***" I bet you know a hell of alot about Third Gens but you need to learn to talk to people without insulting them. Treat them with the same respect you would want to be treated with. If I have insulted you in any way I Apologize
just remember the way you treat others is the sameway YOU will be treated.....

JaggedJames24, you made a very good point, especially by apologizing to the people who have put up with him since 2002. But I think it's time we let this thread die again.
But like I said Studd, sorry for the confusion. I just really can't stand it when someone who doesn't have a clue who I am, tries to label or insult me, and that's what I thought was going on.
