Got some doubts and questions

OK< my buddy Bryon is trying to challenge me yet again. Its gotten old really but anyways, lemme give u all a quick follow up:

Bryon got his 89 Mark VII Lincoln the same time I got my 92 RS Camaro. Well, he got me into racing nd well, i kept beating him. He first raced it bone stock, and no exhaust period. ran like 11.0's-11.3's. So he had an H-pipe put on and ran it all the way out back with SuperTraps mufflers at the tips. He ran 11.2's and 11.3's then still. So, then he changed his plugs and put some Bosch plug wires on nd supposedly ran 10.69. I saw slips but it still didnt mean it was his car. So, he challeneged me back in June and I took my little RS camaro and in a best 2 out of 3 COmpetition. I let him make a test pass and he ran 11.06. So, he came back around and we changed his plug wires to ACCEL SuperStocks. He then ran againstme at 11.09 and then 11.14. I won and he hasnt raced since.

Now, he has started talking crap again. He supposedly took his car down to the track Wednesday night. Since June, all he has done is take out the AC and Smog stuff. He went back to the Bosch plug wires and fixed a supposedly non-firing cylinder, from so much build-up. Well, he told me he ran the car Wednesday and he ran a best of 9.75 and a worst of 10.00 at the 10.00 pass he sad it soundedl iek itwas starving for fuel. I find this to be some BS because I took my AC and smog out and didnt gain that kind of power gain or speed gain.....i dropped from 10.7's to 10.5's. His motor is the 5.0 HO Fuel injected motor, similar to the Mustangs except it isnt MAF, its a Speed Density setup. its completely bone stock.

Question is, do you think he's BS'in me or not? Is itworth it to race my little RS one more time. I mean, I havent modded it in like 3-4 months nad Im tired of taking it to the track, because I hate tearing it up. I am tuning my T-top right now and may run it but seriously, whats your opinions on this? Thanks.

P.S> He has the stock convertor and no Psi gears, just basically a stock lincoln. he took out all the inteior and only has 2 front seats from a Third Gen Firebird.

11.0 to 10.0 is good increase in power. Means he is launching well and has more power or less wieght. LOL With smog and AC gone, probly gained alittle bit power and lost some weight. I doubt he is running 9.75's tho. If you want to race him, i bet you would take him.

I'm in no way trying to be a jerk, but I don't understand when people build fast cars, then say "Well, I don't want to tear it up."

Muy girlfriend always says that to me. If you don't race so much, your car will last longer (especially after I broke it ).

But I always tell her. "That's true honey, but I didn't make it fast so I could baby it."
Although, now that I have to ride the bus to school, I guess I could see that.

I understand your point Stu. However, my RS actually ended up somehow becoming my race car...somehow..But I bought my 82 T-top to be the race car and the RS became the daily driver. However, the t-top has been down for about a month and a half with some mods being put in/on and tuning, not to mention waiting on parts and more cashflow. So thats why I ran the RS once or twice in the last few months. Anyways, I worked on my 82 today, and got the valves down, she runs pretty good, just my carb is pretty much shot, I cant punch it without it dying, so today Im out looking for a carb. I figure I'll attempt to run it tonight, to be on the safe side of things, considering the t-top has a cam and alot more done to it now.

Yeah its an 1/8th mile. the track is the Ohio Valley Dragway, in Louisville, KY. Doubt anyone has ever been there but their launch pads kinda suck, like a soft asphalt...but its the local track, so I go there. Anyways, IF I race him tonight, Im gonna ask him to put something on the line, like cash or even his little beater car raggedy Pulsar. I mean, Ive got to do something so he'll shut up and actually DO something to the car. It took him 4 months to take out the AC and smog and swap wires he already had. He talks about Grand Nationals, Joe Blows' Jetta, and the fastest Supras...but he never does anything under the hood, even though he claims he knows more than me about cars....course he couldnt change a heater core hose, I had to do that lol.

So, whats the predictions guys? its an 1/8th mile track and should be on Tonight!

There is this kid that had a 95 civic that looked alright, not kits just lowered. he knows about the aftermarket and his turbo stuff/engine swaps, but doesnt know how to change engine oil and regular maintance!! LOL

Lol yeah I know funyn huh..thing is he didnt even say thanks or naything. he just said "see ya lateR" and drove off...it pissed me off but he apologized and stuff...still lingeirng in my mind tho..
Anyways, back to the race, should I be worried at all? I mean, say he isnt tellin the truth and had Posi gears put in it and/or a 2500-3000 stall converotr in it....is there a chance. I dont see how he could do this, he has been off from work for liek 2 months now, no source of income. His uncle may have helped him, seriously doubt it though. I need osme advice here, should I bust out the T-top with the ****ty carb or just beat him yet again in the RS? any help is apreciated thanks.

You should win. The stuff that he did does not add power.

Well just to let everyone know, we both went to the track. His Lincoln somehow runs consistent 9.6's....basically, he blew my RS out of the water. This ocming Wednesday and Friday are the last 2 times the track will be open before the season ends. What can I do to my t-top camaro to make it beat those 9.6 passes? Im going to get headers and true duals run now, considering thatll help me out but how far iwll that take me? I still have to purchase my carb this weekend, im looking at buying a used one. BTW, is everyone positive that I will recieve NO gains from going from the Performer intake to the Vic Jr. intake? Just making sure. Any help is appreciated, but I need to know what to do to get my car down that low....I am pretty much guessing it will run 9.9's barely even with all those mods......Any help, its appreciated. thanks.
