me and a special edition prelude

so tonight i got my car back on the road and able to race. before we headed out to the track we wanted to do some street racing and see whos car got whos. hes got like a 96 or something speical edition lude with 160hp stock and a header CAI and exhaust. he ran 9.6 at the valley last time so we decided to run them from a dig. both times he pulled first and second by like a 1/4 car because i was spinnign like crazy. then as soon as i hit 3rd i blew past him. did this twice and felt real nice but then i went down to the track and ran 9.44. not what i had hoped but o well. beat his 9.7

You hoped for more than a 9.44 with a stock LO3 (judging by sig)? 9.44 is like a 14.6-14.9 pass.. I'd be extremely pleased with that out of a stock TBI motor.

EDIT: Oops just realized you're running a TPI car as the TBI one is gone I'd still say high 14s is good with what you have. I think they were supposed to run like 14.7-14.9 stock with the 5spd 305 in '91. That's about where I'm at as well (not entirely stock though).

whats a special edition lude? All preludes are pretty much same except for engines as far as i know. the H22 vtec with 190hp is the one to watch out for. LOL, they are decently fast.

its the non vtec Si edition. its a quick car (9.6) as being so light its a blast to run around town. but mines just faster. this was just a good race because all our friends are into cars and argue whos faster, weve never ran them before. i honestly didnt think i would beat his 9.6 capable car but it was a fun little street race, right on a desolate overpass looking at all the rushhour traffic.

Preludes are heavy (compared to other Hondas) and you raced the slowest model. That car won't run a 9.6 stock, sorry.

Well, I guess, not sorry. What I meant to say was, that those cars are slow, and apparently you beat a modded one. Congratulations. There was no bad meaning in my previous post, it just came out wrong.

yea no prob stu, you seem to have that problem on this board though (having things come out wrong). but his slow modded lude did run all over a 92 gsr with a type r head. but i was still glad to get him, its like "The" matchup for our friends.

Just a Type R head? I'm trying to think of the gains he would get with that, and I'm just not seeing it. It probably wasn't worth his money to convert (not that it would have been hard or anything) but then again, most n/a mod on a 4 cylinder car isn't worth the money.

The reason I have this problem, is because I can't edit my posts, so I just look like a dick all the time.

full bolt on, higher compression H22's can put out real good power

Seen one racing a SRT 4 neon that had ugraded boost controller and was running bit more.

The H22, i think it was a prelude but could have been a civic with H22, kept up well. Race was from roll and that all motor H22 was hanging for 2 gears and then Srt4 pulled away. I would guess that H22 was running upper 13's like 13.7's 13.8's. not bad from N/A car.

There is NO Honda with full "bolts ons" that will keep up with even a stock SRT-4 Neon, let alone a modded one. That H22 you are talking about spent probably $2,000 in internal mods just to lose to that Neon. It's sad really.

yeah, it did keep up and was waste of money if you ask me cuz a turbo is the only way to go on those cars but all motor is really impressive and that H22 did run well for what it was.
