and as far as drivetrain goes some do have weak spots others aren't so weak.
supra has been known to have a strong motor and I assume the rest of the drivetrain is strong to follow suit.
in the rx7 world it isn't uncommon to see the transmission/prop shaft/ rear and axle's handling 500hp relaibly. granted don't see many rx7's with that much but those that are putting it out the drivetrain can withstand it fairly well. and again stock driveline.
and I'm sure there are others. but yes there are many morethat can not.... kinda like domestics there are quite a few that cna handle the power..... quite a few that can not
you made a little bit much of a blanket statement theree
If you like imports, good for you. Enjoy them. I will enjoy my thirdgen 500hp Z28 that I can still build up to run 9's for a lot less than what it costs to buy an import. I prefer american muscle. I respect imports and they respect me. They won't even rev on me anymore. They all want to see what's under the hood. Their cars make them happy. Mine makes me very happy. Most of the time they will tell me they would much rather have my car than theirs.
and to run 9's isn't going to be easy either way in an import or a domestic. and I'm sure quite a few imports can get there for not a whole lot more then what you are doing if not around the same price range. again depending on the import
My oldest son has already come over to the dark side and bought himself a 94Z28. His honda is still in my yard up on blocks....broken and used up. Yes, thirdgens are seemingly slow these days compared to new cars and trucks. You almost can't keep up without modding the crap out of one. It's not the imports you have to worry about anymore. It's the pickup trucks.
damn srt-10 pickup truck
and to the guy talking irocs not being tbi
looks like in 88-89 they have an iroc-z that was tbi
heck in 87 they had one that was the lg4
but I don't know what this guy had be it lg4-tbi-or even some ****ty running tpi.

for you piston guys to explain it a little more it's kinda like vtec on rotary motors
basicly when they open up you now have a longer duration on the intake side where the port closes later. also allowing kinda like a larger valve as well.

eh already started quoting you line by line so figured I would keep going....

We're still talking 300hp on average here. The drivetrains will surely hold up to that. Most will add turbos and or nitrous. Thats where you run into trouble, especially with nitrous. Nitrous and kids are a bad combo. Again, most do not know what they are getting into. Motors go bust and drivetrains go ping. You make it sound like this happens often at the track with domestics. It doesn't. I dont think I made too much on my blanket statement at all. I've been around racing long enough to know. If you know how to build race cars and you understand what it takes to run one then breaking things doesnt happen often.
You cant run a 500hp supra and expect to keep your stock drivetrain from breaking either. I'd like to see a 500hp supra. I'm not talking a 300hp supra running 200 shot of nitrous either. I'm talking in the motor. I have yet to see one. And to clarify, I'm speaking about imports here...not euros. there's a difference. I have seen a few respectable imports running around. They leave me alone. Technology has rapidly caught up to the thirdgen scene. You can make more hp with less motor these days. I dont agree with that but it is what it is. Look at the new 40th ann. stangs. They come with a 4.6 or4.7 liter 8 cyl engine. That equates to a 289 motor I believe? To me thats absolutely stupid. No thanks. I'll keep my thirdgen and hang out here with people who like these classic american muscle cars.

Not that expensive. Granted imports may be starting to build their drivetrains to meet motor hp but that is only since people started modding their imports and they became more popular. The drivetrains still will not hold out for long if you increase hp but not build up the rest.

as far as the rx7 I'm refering to the 87-91 years so it's not like they made them after the rush of ppl modding imports
though the N/A drivetrain sux on the rx7's it's the turbos that works very well
"If you know how to build race cars and you understand what it takes to run one then breaking things doesnt happen often. "
same can be said for imports though

the whole small motor more power thing came with gas emissions
to me I like the idea cuase if you can get a 346ci motor to make that kind of power. imagine what you can do with a 502?

I read the rest after I posted and read your mods and figured that out but how do your secondaries open if your exhaust is free flowing? You did know they need backpressure right? I figure that you do but if not that may be why they open sporadically. Man I want an rx7 again, Im going to read the racing beat catalog again when I get home.

supras are the baddest cars on the planet, where have you been?? LOL
they can make 800hp easy without changing internals, rear end, and chasis mods. incredible.any supra not running 500hp is a waste. i would say over half the them out there are at that mark.
heres one daily driver
