Ok who would win?

Ok so a friend of mine has a Camaro Rs. The car is extremely nice but the lowely L03. I know I have asked before, but who should win, him or my Jeep. My Jeep did 7.92 0-60 not too long ago on a Gtech, but Im sure with a tune up (210,000 miles, hehe) it could be 7.7 or so. Is that about on par with an RS?

I also have a pic of his car, but its merely a drawing I did, not bad looking at all!

Auto or T5. What jeep? 4.0 I6? I would think that the RS would eek you out. The higher speed the more prominant his victory.

Sorry I left out a bit of info, his is stock minus a catback, and mine is stock. Mine is a 1995 Grand Cherokee with a 5.2 V8! His car feels fast (from what he says) but thats what torque does...

I should just Gtech it, but with a new dusting of snow and ice, I dont think it would do so well. Ok just getting opinions for now, thanks!

my dad is trying to pick up a 95 orvis edition cherokee with the 5.2 V8.

how does it run? it looks sweet but never driven one.

never new they had a 5.2 in them at all. LOL thats sweet

that rs should out run you cuz its abit lighter and its a car LOL jeep is geared more to low end i would believe so it will suck at top speed. it should be close for a long while. LOL

LOL, if there is a Corvette style rear it was by accident...

Yes they have the 5.2, and it is a great motor. Makes awesome torque and good power. I ran it side by side with an 02 Denali! But the trannies are JUNK. Its a Peugot tranny and I already blew one up (truck has had a few according to the old owner).

I like the truck a lot (has 210,000 miles) and couldnt ask for more, but lately stuff has been going wrong with it. Lights on dash dont work, two of the 3 displays dont work or work part of the time, and just minor things that add up. I cant complain as it has a LOT of miles, but I still paid a bit for it and wanted something with less issues...

All in all I love it, even if it loses to a Camaro !

Yeah mines AWD, and I dont think its 5000 lb. The base model 4.0 is 3500 lbs, so id say mid 4xxx! The motor is the 318 and makes great torque and decent power...

As far as your friends, it might be a 5.9 limited. In 1998 they had the 5.9s, the only year, which were VERY fast. Some were high 14s stock, and would give a thirdgen an easy run (L98 should take it by a slight bit, otherwise good race for the others).

Does anyone have a 0-60 number on the L03. I have been looking but cant find anything. I thought it was in the low 8s, but didnt know for sure!

How long would the race be? The shorter it is the better your chances because SUVs are bricks at high speeds. I have 4WD and my Blazer is 4101 curb weight so I doubt you are much heavier. If you race to 70mph I'd say that you would edge him out. Just don't blow another tranny

actually a buddy of mine had a 5.2 GC and his weighed like 3700. Those things are not heavy at all, they're built like a tin can. It'd just barely lose to a 15.8 sec t-bird, so should be a very close race.

That sounds about right. If I had to guess I would say the curb weight would be less than my Blazer. I know that my buddy's Jeep '94 Sport is about 3000lbs. They are light for SUVs.

Ok I found some specs:

curb weight 5.2L: 3931lbs
axle ratio 5.2L: 3.73
5.2L OHV V8: 220hp 300ft/lbs; 8.9:1 compression

So compare that to a 170hp stock LO3 thats 600lbs lighter and with a lot less torque. My money's on you. I'd say try to get a tune-up first if its been a while too and try to go from a stop.

Thats not bad...here is the test I got the info from..this one in here with some mods ran 15.5.

http://motortrend.com/roadtests/suv/...ep/index1.html

I drove alot of them when I used to work at a Dodge/Jeep/Eagle dealer years ago..they are pretty quick. The newer 4.7L ones are even quicker..they move pretty good!

Ummm, I didnt know the new body style ever came with the 5.2. I know the 1993-1998s did, but I didnt know any 99+s ever had 5.2s...

I guess Ill have to tune it up and maybe make a run at him (I only race from a dig, if I am ever going to race), thanks!

That was the last year I think..99...according to that at least.

EDIT! No..it's wrong..I was working at the dealer when the new ones 1st came out..and that was over 5 years ago...before I had my GT. All the new style have the 4.7 if they are V8. Only ever saw one 5.9 Limited driven by a Jeep rep...it was pretty mean sounding! MT got 15.2 for them..so I'm sure high 14's is possible...
