bah, I don't like the cookie cutter ric3 boy anymore than the next person but the cars aren't bad if they are fast. I would not mind having an 11 second 4 banger if it didn't have body kit and neons. Stu has the perfect sleeper, I would honestly not give it a second look driving down the road.

Thats why i like to quote it when people post something like that. So that when they go back and delete it, the rest of the members can still see it. Of course the mods can read what you edit out anyway.

You are smart and I too do this to prevent anyone from backing out of what they said. I cannot read what they edit out but I can basically do anything else I want to the thread/posts. I can however do as ljnowell mentioned, and so can everyone else. Quoting someone is the best way to lock thier words in stone. If mods edit anyones posts it will say that we edited it. It is part of VB so that mods/admins don't put words in peoples posts.

VB3 may. I know that VB 2 does not. I just tried it to varify One of these days Dirk will come out of his cave and give TGO a much needed tune-up. VB is slick but I am still getting use to the interface.

actually when I am on the road whether it is busy or not, I am trying to get from point A to point B and then sometimes back to point A. I stay on the right except to pass. Anyone else can go slower than me, or faster than me, but I really don't like people with insect-like, annoying tendencies. Either pass me once or stay behind me. Sorry crazy, nothing personal

I just came across this thread, don't want to interrupt the contest going on here, just want to say one thing: How come everyone blames the kids and the movies for car trends? What about car manufacturers? The way I see it people are going to love what they've grown up with (for the most part, of course there are exceptions). That's why some older folks like americal muscle. What about these days? Can a kid go and buy a camaro? (oh yeah, thank GM for that) Cars are not there any longer and the ones that still are just not affordable anymore (sticker price+insurance+gas). So kids do what they can, buy the cheapest car and then spend their lunch money buying things they can afford, neon lights.

Haha neon lights. That made me giggle a little bit.

Actually I think a well done import is a nice car. By well done I don't mean extravagent body kits that look like they came out of Star Trek or something.

Well done to me means mostly stock looking, but with a few features that aren't stock. Like a 3rd gen 'maro with a cowl hood. Looks great.

And exhaust is another thing. I've seen only a few imports around here without the annoying "bees in a coffee can" style exhaust. When I hear nice exhaust it's rare, but happens.

Unfortunatly most kids around here love 4 banger 80's hatchback Honda Civics. Why? No clue. Does anyone know what power ratings these put out stock? I don't know, but even my LG4 wastes them.

And another disturbing trend is that I see EVERYONE getting redone exhaust, or at least a new muffler. Everyone from the old Mexican guy in his beat-up Toyota (not being racist.. I'm mexican), to the Soccor mom in her Ford Expedition. WHY is everyone doing this?

Answer? It's a horrible, annoying fad. Sorry, your Expedition is NOT fast. I do NOT want to see the same damn tips on every SUV and truck, along with the same muffler. To me, this is as bad as r*ce, and in some situations, IS r*ce.

R*ce is being something you aren't, to me. This includes Type-R badges, IROC-Z emblems on an RS, big Flowmaster 80 mufflers on an SUV (it's not fast.. don't degrade that sound) and of course the g*d d*mn airplane wings on the back of 80's Corollas.

Wow, I needed to vent.

In conclusion, there are lots of kinds of r*ce, and I hate them all. Thanks.

I've always equated loud exhaust with power! Muscle! TORQUE! My dad's 69 'maro! Thirdgens! Fourthgens! The 440 Roadrunner down the street!

NOT some damn soccor mom in her SUV droppin' the kids off. Just my opinion, but loud exhaust should be for cars that deserve it.

And yes, I do agree that a loud exhaust on a well done truck is nice, but it's getting old seeing the same d*mn tips and hearing the same Flowmaster drone.

IMHO, of course.

Hmm, come to think of it one of the best exhausts I have heard on a stock vehicle is the 2001-2005 Denali and 2002-2005 Escalade... Those make more power, more torque and are probably faster than most 305s...

Im a huge fan of these trucks (should have one in the near future) and even though it wont get an exhaust, the stocker sounds awesome!

You think that the new Hemi is blazingly fast, but think that the Escalade is slow?

Anyway, people buy old Honda hatchbacks because they are cheap, light, and look slow. Most of those kids you see driving around in those cars probably have pipe dreams of doing a swap. Most of them won't ever actually get it done though. Who doesn't want a car that weighs 2,100lbs?

Car: 2005 Subaru STI
Engine: 153ci of Turbo Power!
Transmission: 6-Speed
I sold my 'sweet 11s thirdgen' to 92 Formula on this board and bought an '05 Subaru STi (not a wimpy WRX - the real deal STi). I'm happy. Stock it is 300hp and 300tq ... in a 3150lb car. With a good launch it hits low 13's stock. Full exhaust and a reprogrammed ECM pumps the power up to 360hp/390tq. That's 300 to the wheels in a 3150lb car that has all wheel drive and now runs 12's. The car has three limited slip differentials (front, rear, center). I can fully lock the center to have a 4 x 4 for when it snows. OR, I can leave the center differential in 'Auto' mode where Lateral G sensors and Yaw sensors change the differential lockup on the fly for the best cornering ability. The car has 13" front Brembo brakes. It stops rediculously quickly. If I'm a r1c3r for owning this car then so be it. I can throw my 2yr old son into the back car seat (4 doors), lock the center differential, and then cruise down a snow covered street with no problem or safety worries. Lots of other stuff make this car enjoyable too. From the 17" forged aluminum lightweight wheels to the HID headlights to the 6 speed tranny to the adjustable shift light to the awesome suspension ... this car is cool. It isn't the be-all-end-all (obviously). It isn't a drag racer (obviously). My old IROC would kill the car from a roll easily. However, all in all, the STi is the best car I have ever owned when considering everything (usability, driveability, acceleration, braking, cornering, and safety). IMHO, every Dad who is into performance cars needs one of these cars.
