I got beat by a 4th gen :( Barely

Well I saw a stock looking camaro ss - pulled up beside him at a light, I looked at him and he gaveme the look and a slight rev the light turned, I had a much better launch than him, got him up to about 50mph and he slowly started to pull, I was like "how the hell" he kept pulling slowly and kept pulling, all the way to 120 and he was maybe 3/4 a carlength ahead, we were coming up on another light (you would have to see it to understand the lights are about 1/3 a mile apart with no way anyone cna turn in)and we stopped and he rolled down the window and he said "damn what you got?" I said "pull over here to this gas station" we got out, he had a turbo charged ls1, and showed me a dyno sheet that he was dynoed for 566RWHP and 622 Ft lbs, and a time slip for 11.4 (i would think it would have been better?) I showed him my car and he seemed to like it but was laughing when I ONLY had a '350 with a supercharger' he said "i expected you to have a Rat 502, guy was in his early 20's and admitted it was his dads car /boggle

Car had a stock idle but one hell of a turbo spool, I heard it when he left.

Not proof read any flames or questions post and I will retort

it's not that often that you run into low 11 second cars on the street. Hey, there's no shame in losing (barely) to a car that has over 500 hp. Good run none the less.

Cool run. He must have serious traction issues. A guy here in our club has 2 turbo LS1 projects and the slower of the two ran a best of 9.85 at 136. You really have to prep an f-bod when you are making that kind of power. His was basically a drag car but was street legal. The times for that car sound about right considering he was in street trim. Turbo LS1's are incredibly scary. Big inch boosted LS1's are even scarier.

Yea, those LS1 heads flow like a motha. Thier not too stout on the bottom end stock though. But they have 4 bolt mains don't they? Or is it 6? Turboed ls1's are a scary site to be up against.

They are 6 bolt. LS1's do have great low end. It is just masked my their insane top end and broad power curve. Full torque is still at 3800 to 4000 rpms.

To put it into perspective, that same guy in our club has a heads and cammed 382 single turbo that makes 1300 at the crank. He is tied for the fastest LS1 in the world.

Oh when I said stout, I was talking crank etc... I'll take my LT1 stock bottom end over a LS1.

1/3 of a mile is longer than a 1/4 mile.

I don't know about that. I've heard some horror stories about people rebuilding LT1's and spinning bearings immediately due to them not align boring. Something about core shift maybe? I can't exactly recall what it was. It was in the GMHTP Tech letters and was a pretty common problem. As far as the LS1, I've got a friend with a '02 T/A that runs 10.78 on the stock bottom end, spraying a 250 shot.

120 in a third of a mile, I think i could do that or at least come close...

Its longer than the 1/4 and your trap speed at the track is probably a few mph less than what your really doing. So with that factored in, yes 120 is easily possible, especially for an 11 or 12 second car!

Thats a two way street and a big can of worms, plenty up people shove a 200 shot on a stock bottom end LT1 even after high milage (140K plus) and have it live up to 250k. I've heard of stock LS1's bending pushrods like no tomorrow. Fact is, I beat on my damn lt1 fricken hard, shift at 5900 and it just wants more. They both have faults.

Hmmmm......even at 120 stoplight to stoplight you'd need hella distance to stop (which would probably put you past that stop light. And WTF are you doing that type of speed on the streets for??

I know the kind of streets he's talking about. In that video where I was racing my buddies STi, the camera car got up to 120 trying to follow us. The lights are so far apart, and it's in such a low populated area that there was hardly any traffic (none on our side anyway). It's great. I always feel ashamed if I ever drive fast on the street. I force myself to drive as cautious as possible for a pennance. It doesn't make up for it though.
