New Gt!
ok well i just got to race a brand new mustang GT the kid was really cool and he said he had a catback on it and it sounded really nice. I was like "all i got is a v6 but ill run ya", hes like "ok ill give you a 3 or so car head start"... So the light turned green and i nailed it and then he nails it im takin off and it took him to 80 to catch up and pass me
i thought they were alot faster... i mean i know its new and stuff, but i raced and LS1(stock) and it just flat out tore me a new one! overall for 40g i wasnt impressed it looked real nice. It was black and sounded awesome oh and it was manual.

yea im sure the guy was lying and making it look better by saying he paid alot....
this is just what happened and what he told me. and ive heard them running around mid 14s...so that sounds about l98 area. I asked "How much you pay?", HIS reply was "40,000"....there u have it. i know its around 30 atleast. but his was a kid and maybe he pre-ordered it or something. i didnt bother to nit-pick.

The new gt mustangs in texas are between 26 and 29 and I read some where they run in the high 13's. Good try though

Here's a dyno graph comparing the 05 GT (3v SOHC 4.6) to an 04 Mach 1 (4v DOHC 4.6): note the A/F!
05 GT blue, Mach 1 red...

Stock yes. But with just a tune they are making HUGE improvements. Ford's stock programming (RICH RICH RICH!) and the electronic throttle control hold it way back. Gains of over 25rwhp and over half second ET improvements have been documented by several tuners. The thing that really holds them back is the weight. With Fords trend of making Stangs heavier with each new model in the last 2 decades, I predict the next generation Stang the weigh as much as a tank

i dunno with the kid just barely getting it and it being a stick and everything, he was probably running mid 14's. which isn't very impressive for a 300 hp car.

You can actually order the V6 models with all the V8 options, minus the V8 lol. Theres a guy at work that ordered one from Star Ford, its an 05 V6 and he ordered it with the GT wing, foglights, all options, GT wheels and a couple other things..... IUt basically will look just like a GT, minus the whole V8-V6 difference
...but with all that he paid close to 27,000....I dont get why he just didnt buy a GTO....He could be running low 13's instead of low 15's lol...

Good run with the new GT, oh by the way, the new stangs are ugly compared to the 99 plus and fox body cars.
The 05 is putting down about 250-260HP at the wheels.
Here's a dyno of a STOCK '05 GT
255rwHP stock

And this is the same car with an intake kit, removed hydrocarbon filter and a tune. 280 rwHP and 300 rwTQ

The same car then got a cat-back exhaust and made 290rwHP but i don't have a dyno of that. That's 350HP at the flywheel.
Then the car ran 13.2 @ 104MPH
Just because one Mustang runs mid 14's doesn't mean they all suck. In the hands of a capable driver they are solid 13 secondf cars. My own '03 GT ran 14.0 with me driving. I raced an '05 GT and got beat soundly. The car had a cat-back and intake. I'd say it was running about 13.5.
I mean using the same logic, i've seen LS1's run 14.8's...and they have 320HP. I don't see why there is a double standard here when it comes to bad drivers. The Ls1 runs 14's and it's "Bad driver" a Mustang runs 14.8's and it's "Mustang's are overrated". C'mon guys, wake up.
I've driven the '05 GT and it really is the best handling, best braking (excluding Cobras andother 13" brake cars) and best accelerating GT ever made. WHen you get on it and wind out the gear it really is ***** to the wall.
Base price on a GT is $24,995. The most expensive GT will come in at around $29,700. That includes stupid options like side air bags, $50 wheel locks, 1000w stereo, color changing gauges and several interior upgrade packages. Nothing performance is added over the base GT deluxe 24,995 package, so what's the point? If you spend over 30K for a GT, you got suckered into dealer mark-ups.
Just wait til spring when dozens are sitting on Ford dealers lots and Ford comes out with it's annual incentive programs. 24,995 - 3000 cash back will give you a 22K Mustang GT......and that's when i will trade my '03 in for one.
And i think they look pretty bad-***

hot rod did a test on the new stang
they added some exhaust, under drive pulleys, and some other minor bolt ons to gain 25 rwhp.
they added slicks and gears, 4.33's i believe
they also tuned the car and got rid of that no-burnout torque management thing.
and they added some lightweight parts and cut out 380 lbs from the car
They ran 12.3x's all day long, with 60 foots in the 1.7's and few in 1.6's.
Not bad at all for the stang, but goes to show you that they are heavy pigs and need serious lightening to go fast with minimal boltons. (although low 13's at over 104mph is fast) but every car can go fast if it was lighter. LOL

i read that same article and found it quite intersting! yea im sure he was a bad driver. just some young kid 19 or so that got a new car taking it out with his girl and getting used to it. and arent 04 mustangs going around mid 13s with a good driver?! they make what 260? and the new mustang is good for 300hp and putting 260 to the wheels and it "might run" a 13 if it has a good driver?, this is the only reason im not too impressed.

i've seen LS1's run 14.8's...and they have 320HP
It was either 305hp or 325hp
And GM underated those numbers! Lot of LS1s have 290-300hp at the wheels bonestock, which makes it prob 350hp at the crank or so.. LS1s make more power at the wheels then the new mustang crank hp
Also those new mustangs look like there tanks!

i think the 2005 Mustang is overated. I think its sucks that you have to pay almost 30grand for a 255rwhp V8 performance car. Werent the LS1 F bodys lil cheaper brand new? I mean you can just buy a cheaper low mileage 1998-2002 Fbody LS1 that puts out more then 50 + RWHP then the 05 GT and get a 6 speed instead of a 5 speed that the new GT has. ( i read they only came 5 speed, not 6)

I think the new stang is a beautifull looking car ( could have brushed up on that plain looking rear end though). As with all new model year cars that have gone through a restyling change, it may be wise to wait before picking one up if your interested in buying one. It seems the manufacturers always work out the "kinks" in the later model years

I have to say this about them...
I really liked the concept car. Then they changed it around and I hated it. Now that they have come out I am not a huge fan of them in pictures, but in person they look awesome. The styling works well and the car is much sleeker than before.
As far as power goes, of course I want more, but they have potential, and arent over rated but rated properly. When compared to an LS1 sure they look over rated, but arent! As far as track times like all Mustangs there are lots of bad drivers, but some of the better drivers have been in the 13.4s, and I feel in the fall with a stick one could go low 13s untouched.
Now as far as dealing with them, as of now my brother plans to purchase one this summer, and is going to let me run it. I am sure it will go well into the 13s, but my goal is a 13.3 with a very good 60' in great air, after the proper break in!

to the new GT being 40K.
