I don't see how, unless either:

a) Camaros don't have a trip odometer or it's not in the same place as in a Firebird

or

b) you broke yours

The trip odometer reset thing keeps my needle from going a few notches past 85 MPH.

um... 140mph with a bone stock 305 tpi, 700r4 trans, and 3.23 rear...... does it still count if i was going downhill at the time?

 

I hit 145 mph once. on a long and deserted road. took a while to get there. will never do it again

 

137 on the interstate and a newer camaro with a chick drivin blew my doors off we went over a bridge and it was a little windy so i decided to slow down, but she kept right on truckin down the road.:hail:

I've had mine up to about 130. It pulls pretty hard up to about 115 or so, but after that it was a slow creep up to 130.

 

I got my v6 well past 140K, but that isnt saying too much. She had a little more pull in her, but my tires werent rated for that and so on...

speedo reads 145mph, it was buried for a good 10 seconds one time racing a foxbody. that was with 2 friends in the car too.

 

was with my friends, had my speedo bottomed out (85 mph) and my friends RS and my other buddy in the firebird said they were goin 110 when we slowed down.

 

I had my '89 L98 IROC with 2.77 gears and 700-r4 to about 150. It goes 110 on the way to school everyday. pretty secluded industrial park shortcut i know.

 

Yes 150+ mph can be had in a 305+ thirdgen. I no longer have that engine but I must admit, with 1 3/4 headers, 1.6 Crane rr rockers, airfoil, pulleys, MSD 6A ig, 3 in center pipe and flows with a 3.27 5 spd it can be done. I buried it with 2 other friends in the car and I swear they were crying for their lives. If you've experienced 150 mph + ( if you're car is stable) you get an almost weightless floating sensation at that speed ( when you hit any small bump/hill) it feels as almost you are floating on air. If you're car is set up correctly and everything is balanced it should run those speeds no problem (wot).

 

The fastest I've gone is like 80. I got a 145 Speedo, but it's not safe to go that fast on the street. That, and I fear for my driveshaft.

 

i got mine up to about 148ish on an unfinished bypass, but i still got beat my my friends 4th gen

 

speedo stops at 85, my friend was past 120 and i was pullin away from him pretty quick. so im guessing close to 130.

 

in excess of 175mph....of course not accounting for wind resistance, the RPM/gear ratio/tire height math says i was doing 181.....but due to drag and such slightly less than that.

 

84 HO Z28 buried the 145 speedo I put in back in 87.
Best 1/4 trap speed was 103

89 TTA buried the 145 speedo very easily.
Best 1/4 trap speed was 121.4

 

I think if you look up the word "slow" in the dictionary there's a pic of our little stock '92 3.1L RS. That's why I don't take her to the track. And that does not imply that I race on the street - what would be the point with this car anyway??

 

When the car had less than 3K on the clock, I took it out in a VERY secluded area, and let it roll. Calculated the speed off the tach. 140, and the car loved every minute of it. Scared the sh*t out of me, though. Haven't been over 100 since the mods.

 

Well the fastes i have gone on my 92 rs is about 90 mph but i let of the gas before 100mph

just a question how fast do you think a camaro will top out with a t56 swap with stock 273 gears and wiht the limmiter off?

I had an 84SC back in the day. It had the double needle 85mph speedo. I wrapped it all the way around and pegged out on the far end of the kmph side.

It was moving...

 

Well, when I bought my TTA and it was all stock, I picked it up in my friends 87 Turbo-T Limited.

We hit a track on the way hom and I had it up to 145 @6psi of boost and a qrtr pedal left. So qrtr pedal and 10psi more to go.

If the track was longer I may have been able to punch the 170mph hole in the air they hit with them at Indy during testing.

New engine should actually be capable of punching that 200 mph barrier :-) Figure the power has been roughly doubled from stock.

Dont think I'm gonna be that stupid anytime soon, but if I can get the car tuned right and the suspension sorted, I would consider it :-)

And oh yes, 200mph in a f- body is attainable with hp in the 500 range and your engine actually has it :-) (and appropriate gearing) The Callaway Sledgehammer needed a 880hp twin turbo small block(Lingenfelter) to hit 254.347h(pretty close number)

 

Well i know you asked Third Gen, but I had the T/A up to 139 in 5th gear and had every bit of 6th gear to go.

 

154 in the 1/8.with the new motor that i just installed it should go 160mph....in the 1/4 mile.

I have had mine to 138 on the 405 freeway running an AUDI A4 he thought he could do a fly by after i started to slow down boy was he wrong

 

clocked at 135mph on rt 12 in DE. that was on my way to court for a previos speeding ticket, 55 in a 45. Now I do not speed, speeding is wrong.

 

had the needle past 120....but my spedo is off by about 10 because gears...

Well I toped my 120speedo on the highway. However, I have a new chip that eliminates the fuel cut off at 115. I still had power, but did not wanna push it.

However, it was enough to **** off an eclipse who just could not catch up!

trapped 120 at the track, so after the line it was probly around 122-123.....

ive gone ALOT faster then that, but not with my thirdgen..... when i have a fast car, (a actual fast car, not a "fast for a thirdgen" or a "highschool fast" car..) i dont feel the need to top it out.. i know its limits are far higher then the limits of the enviroment.

meanwhile, you give me a hunk o' ****... like a L03 car or a beater, and i'll top it out.. lol... stock LO3 had its limiter at 114, and the $200 tercel beater maxes out at 95mph DOWNHILL!

 

That's exactly how I am. I get stupid people who know my mom (she does insurance) asking me retarded questions like "Why would you make your car faster if the speed limit is only 55mph?" I always just respond with "There's NO speed limit at Bandamier." and they just turn it around on me and try some other stupid, hardly thought out 'zing' on me. Anyway, it's funny that people don't realize that with a driver like me, the slower the car, the faster I drive it. It's all about momentum. The car I have now can probably barely do 120, but my Integra could do 120 up any hill I've ever had it on, so speeding wasn't as necessary.

pushed my old '87 RS 2.8 5spd up to a whoppin 140mph. No im not sure how and YES she was Singin by that time even though she had a lil over a grand to go before redline...
Had my '87 Firebird Formula 305 4bbl auto up to aprox 155 (calculated)...Ran out of road, OTHERWISE, woulda pushed her further, she just loved to fly.... :P
To date, i've only pushed my '85 Z up to 100-110 on a VERY long road trip (no not constantly) BUT i did set the cruize at 100 for pry 8 hours all in all (with the occasional gas-stop(not incl.)) As a matter of fact i got busted on that same road trip doin '93 in a 75 zone cuz a state "patrolman" (id prefer using another term that rimes with *****)... he was runnin lazer in the median behind a bridge in the pitch black... I didnt bother to mention i had just recently dropped my speed from 105ish cuz i had to follow some other jack-@$$....anywho's that ticket set me back $166 bux. Thank you Nebraska State Patrol!!! A-holes...

Yea, im not bashin him for doin his job its just that as far as i know the authorities arent supposed to be behind the median such as he was. I always thought they were supposed to be "in plain sight".. Had he been sitting out in the open and i had still gotten caught, that, of course, would have been my own stupidity , though the chances of getting caught would have been much slimmer. Anyways, just thought i'd explain myself there. at any rate i have nothing against any law enforcement personnel, other than a local PD a-hole that will seriously pull you over JUST to see who's with you. I've actually had that happen a time or two before. Kinda weird dont ya think?

 

Weird every time I try to go past 88mph I go back in time or sometimes foward!!!! I think its the flux capacitor that I had installed

 

Ive been to about 130 in my firebird. When it had the stealth ram and 3.08 gears my dad had it up to 145 in 4th and he let out of it. Now i have 3.73's so no more top end.

 

4.10 gears have me redlining at 120.... but i sure get there quik

 

That's how my car was. It sucks on the highway doesn't it? I think my max speed was 135 though.
