Pretty much every 3rd gen (except the iron duke maybe) could hit 110. This doesn't really prove anything. We are talking about the track though and not reckless behavior right?

140 mph at the end of the 1/4 mile track.Dont think it would stay at 140 on the street for very long the oil pan only holds so much oil.

Had mine to 115 before. But that was before the trans swap. Now the speedo says 0 all the time. Also I have had the hammer down in 5th and it was still pulling but I was getting close to 5 grand so I decied to back out of it before I broke something else.

I have been faster on the street in my moms Subaru than the Mustang (Id say 120 for the Subaru, 110 tops for the Mustang, and I was actually following a cop at 100 in the Mustang. He was the only car to pass me, so I dropped in behind him). Needless to say I go with traffic, and never feel a need to go all out!

I had my 89 RS in excess of 150, speedo didn't go that high, but my reprogrammed chip cut off at 155.
Oh, did I forget to mention that I had changed the gears in the rear end, and hadn't changed the speedo gear? I guess it was more like 105 at that point, for every actual mile registered as 3. Sorry, had to be a smartass.

Well these are Canadian numbers...
My speedo is dialed back 80 km/h as well. Meaning when I'm doing 90 km/h, it only reads 10 km/h...
My speedo reads to 140 km/h...
I have had it pinned, so there is a minimum 220 km/h (140 + 80 for the dial back) and had lots to give after that.
Quick conversion... 1 Mile = 1.6 kilometers
1 Kilometer = 0.625 Miles
220 km/h = 138 Miles Per Hour
That is approximately by the way. Don't kill me for the math, I did it quickly in my head...
Like I said, I had lots to give. When I bought the car, the guy told me that it was close to a 200 mph car...
where that could ever be confirmed I have no idea. No, I don't believe it is either, but the way it was pulling at 140 mph, I wouldn't doubt if it could break into the 180's...

Orr...
What do you think then?
I was only a little past half throttle at 140...
If you know, I guess you know, but what do you think?
If my dads stock '74 Vette can do 135 mph with more to give, why can't I?

i dont really know, with that L98 corvette motor, it should be pushing more power than the regular Fbody L98
you should be able to hit 160 i think. depends on your gears. you got a 5 speed? thats nice and may help your top end speed.
my L98 i feel should hit 145-150 with 2.77 gears. i did 130 and was cruising and had another 2000rpms left before i max my hp with TPI. just a thought.

BBK Twin 58mm Throttle Body, CenterForce Clutch, Crane Cam,
4th Gen SS Mandrel Magna Flow Exhaust w/ 3” Stainless Steel Pipes
These seem to be the only performance oriented mods, and to me that looks like...
an L98 with TB, cam and exhaust... Doesnt sound like a 180-200 mph capable motor, as the only cars I have seen approach 200 mph have had upwards of if not a bit more than 400 hp! I can see the 140 you claimed, but then add 80 to it? Thats where I think the issue is...

140 + 80 is in km/h...for an actual speed of 220 km/h
Then convert it to miles gets the 140...
It was hypothetical stuff as I had never been past 140mph and was guessing based on feel...

i took the camaro to 7500 rpm. with the 25.5 inch tall tire and the 3.27 gears in the rear, it is calculated to 174mph. it was an "open road race" in texas. i think ive gone the fastest of all you so far, but not so much because i wanted to go that fast, i just didnt want to lose.

i did 174mph with a th350. i dont think the motor made enough power to pull really hard in an overdrive! good going man, go to http://www.speedworldmotorplex.com/calc.htm
there is a hp calculator and tire hight rpm mph calculator.

I have a 260 km/h speedo. I once had my old (original) 305 tpi LB9 buried past that mark (and not on any public road). I can't say I've done anything that stupid since.
