Lost a Monte Carlo from a 35mph roll

I was behind a late 90s-ish Monte Carlo at a stop light. After the light, the road went to a wide open 4 lane highway with nobody in front of us. After the light turns green he gets into the right lane beside me and gooses it a little like he wants to race. We're both going about 35 at that point.

I blipped the throttle a little to give him the signal. Next he punches it and takes off. I immediately punched it too and pulled past him by about 60. Above 60 he started falling back pretty bad. By 80 it was all over and by 110 I could barely see him in my mirror any more

I'd really like to race a FWD Monte from a stop some time just to see what happens.

was it the newer body style? cuz they have option of the SS supercharged V6 that puts out like 240hp. they move ok but nothing your car cant handle. the other ones have the 3.8 V6 that puts out 200hp. they move pretty good for a sedan car too but again, not a match for your ride

Doesn't matter from a roll, though.
