This will make you ThirdGen folks happy...

Well Friday night sucked. I went to the local track to test out the Stang with the new clutch and exhaust. I was highly disappointed when I ran consistant 9.2's and a 9.1 pass. My 60 ft's were 1.96-2.04 and had bad wheelhop at thel ine, i could barely slip the clutch at 3500RPM and it sitll wheelhopped...my stock suspension sucks hard.

Toward the end of the night, this fellow in a black IROC-Z came up to me and asked if I wanted to run. I said sure, why not? I asked what he had and he said "stock 350 and 5 speed". I told him L98's never came stock with 5 speeds except the Firehawks and he was scratching his head when I said L98 so I simplified it for him and told him its probably a LB9...or 305. He said its a 350 and such and I asked what he was running and he said 9.6's and for a 350, thats not good. I checked his block number and sure enough, it was the same as the L98 in the garage....and it was obvious he had a 5 speed. I took one look at his itme lsip and knew the problem....2.7 60 fts dont help. I asked him to run me and I watched him launch...he was dumping at like 4 grand or so on some street tires. I got back and started helping him learn to launch. we lowered his Kumho 712's down to 25psi hot and I told him to slip it....he ran a couple more times and then I ran him again...and got raped hard, as he perfected his launch and ran a 8.98 with a 2.08 60 ft! He wasthanking mel iek crazy and I told him no biggie its all in the launch and anytime....

I pulledo ut of the Valley and snatched 2nd like nobody's business and then looked at my oil pressure gauge and it was sitting below 0 I pulled into the next gas station and popped the hood, nothing unusual and went on andfilled up with some petro.....headed towards home and ran into an SRT4.....we went from 2 rolls and he smoked me both times and the ticking from the lifters andthe exhaust leak was getting annoying. I hopped on the expressway and made the 20 mile trek home. Got home, replaced the header gasket and then checked the oil pressure with a Sunpro gauge I got when I got the Camaro. I put a newl ine on it and fire the Stang up and no oil through thel ines...bad oil pump

So yeah, the 228k mile motor has served its lifetime and is done. Im working on pulling the motor this week and a few shortblocks local are in my sights...plan on having it back up by next sunday at latest. I found one i REALLY like....

302 shortblock, Forged internals, 15k miles on fresh rebuild, Lunati .500/.510 cam (similiar to Trickflow stage 1) $400 dollars OBO

Yeah, that looks like the one I want. but now Ive got to put the Camaro on hold yet again...it wont run till next spring

Ouch dude that sucks, but at least ya get a new powerplant for the stang, hope it treats ya as good as the last one sounded like it did.

Sorry for your luck but you never intended to have this thread focus on the 3rd gen you raced did you . People also high jacked this thread pretty bad as well.

I have cleaned out the usless posts since some of us tried to get IBTL. Man that is annoying.
