I'm not an expert when it comes to Jeeps, but I'm pretty sure you will destroy your friend's Liberty. Especially if you race from a dig.

My wife drives an 03 Liberty, it's at best a high 16 to low 17 secs. Not bad torque but weights too much.

You're kidding right? The 3.7 liter is a disgrace to the Jeep name. Terrible gas mileage, and terrible power. The 4.0 was a much better motor.

Your LB9 will absolutely DESTROY it.

By the way, not trying to be a dick here, just telling the truth.

Eh that 3.7 is pretty damn slow. As slow as the Lb9 is I think it has enough power to take that jeep.

Lol we're talking about an LB9 racing a 3.7 Jeep. Damn that's slow

hold on here, I'm not saying the jeep would win. I just said it had good torque but weighed alot. It's rated @ 210hp / 235tq which is probably higher than a 305.Last year I towed my 89 bird to the track and it had no problem with the load. I don't think a liberty is fast, or that it's engine is great. That's why I said it's probably in the 17's. I do think that it is a good mid-size suv. It built pretty strong compared to other suv's in it's class. It attually has a frame and a 4X4 suspension, plus as stated it's my wife's car! and it's better than the rav-4 that she wanted before we looked at the jeep.

So you think that the 4.7L engine is a terrible engine too? You do know that the 3.7L is the 4.7 with the front two cylinders lobbed off right?

I have a 2002 TJ with a 4.0L (DIS too) and my sister's Liberty absolutely kills it for gas mileage. The only thing the archaic 4.0L has over the 3.7L is that it produces more low-end torque, which is perfect for 4x4'n.

And I wouldnt necessarily say the LB9 is going to kill it. 210hp 235tq with 3.55 gears isn't too bad, it's probably another 500-600 more lbs than the thirdgen though.

exactly.. weight is about 3850 to 4100 lbs depends on which model, awd or not, etc. that weight kills any hp advantage it has.

only jeeps i would worry about are the SRT8's... mid 13's at 102mph

My dad had an 03 liberty. It realy isent all that fast. His best was a 17.09, and that was leaving it in drive and not shifting it himself. Unless you have some major problems with your car you should kill it.

nope, I think the 4.7 liters are fantastic motors. They handle well to power adders, and even stock I have seen WJ's hit high 14s. I personally hate the 3.7 liter, end of story. I think 4.0's are better, longer lasting, more available parts, etc. I know a little bit about jeeps too, used to own a lifted xj, that I did ALL my own work to.
This is not an attempt at an agrument by the way.

Congrats on owning a TJ, I like them a lot, and wouldnt mind a rubicon, D44s, lockers, and a 4:1 low gear Tcase, makes it a great rig, especially with an auto.

Oh by the way, I am shocked at the posted ETs for the liberty. When I drove a few of them, they felt very weak? Maybe its cuz where I work, the customers beat the tar out of them.

If you just go to the track to get times a couple times a year and don't actually compete, then it doesn't matter what you bring, because chances are you'll still embarass yourself with your lack of skills. Anyone who races isn't embarassed to race a certain type of vehicle because they know that how fast your car is has nothing to do with your chance of winning.

i ran my Sunfire at the track... thats my daily driver. each time i went down in it, my times improved. the only thing i did to it between visits was increase the milage

yeah some people may think its a waste to run a stock Jbody that i could only get to run 15.8 at 88mph... but i think its more of a waste to go to the track and pay $10 to just sit there and watch, when its only $2 more to participate
