Hedman Longtubes

If I were you, I would just find a 350 or bigger to build. Youll be alot faster than a 305 ever will be. just my .02

Of course someone had to say "put in a 350." But why on earth would he do that? That car is meant for cruising, not to throw down 10 second runs. Plus a 305 TPI isnt far off from the 350 TPI stock. Since his is low miles, there is no reason to get rid of it. Trust me, you'll be happy you stuck with that 305 just for gas mileage.

As long as its in good tune, im guessing you'll see mid 14s at best. If you can launch good you might even see the low side of mid 14s but dont count on it.

Save your money on the SLP runners. They dont help the 305s. The TPI was designed on the 305, thus it is plenty of flow for the 305s and it restricts 350s. Find something else to spend that money on. The port and polish plenum couldnt hurt though since its virtually free.

Edit: When you take that plenum off to port and polish it, sand off the cast marks and polish the outside (there are instructions on that somewhere). It would look sick on your car.

With the stock valvetrain? Maybe a tenth or two faster than what the car was running stock. You won't see 13's unless you throw in a decent cam, and/or spray. My 2 cents...

I think the longtubes should help him a little bit more than a couple tenths. But i agree on getting a cam, just a mild one. And use the moneys for the runners for a stall.

A stall speed would help tremendously in the 60ft, but regardless, the 305 will fall flat on it's face above 4000-RPM. To be quite honest, I just don't see long tubes making that big of a difference on such an anemic engine, let alone an anemic engine with it's stock heads and cam....

well here's the deal. the car is at 80,xxx original miles. just for that fact that it's a rare car, and will continue to get rarer, i WILL NOT swap motors. it's more of a cruiser/show car than anything. i dont care if i ever hit 12's or 13's in this car. if i want something fast i'll get a new car. i just want a lil' more oooomph. i am planning on having the tranny rebuilt with a shift kit and a slight stall as well, so that will definatly help

do you really not think the SLP runners will help much at all for a 305?
