Acura RSX-Mustang GT-mustang Mach 1
Ok guys I have 2 guys and one girl at work that want to race me just wanting some opinions on how it well go first one I think I’ll have with no problems it’s a 2005 Acura RSX spec A with just a 3 inch exhaust. The other one I think well be a little closer but I think I’ll have him it’s a 1994 – 1995 5.0 Mustang GT vert all stock. Last one I think will be really close it’s a 1969 mustang Mach 1 428 cobra jet all stock but after market exhaust and he had the engine rebuilt like 2 years ago.

I think the acura might be faster than the mustang. As for the 428 I am not sure but how much hp do you think you have.

The Acura and vert stang should be easy kills, the 428 will be interesting, big motor, but lazy and heavy. Get video, even the easy kill are still fun to watch.

I don't see a well driven 355 Z28 with good boltons and a cam struggling with the average driven bolt on RSX-S. Its not a good launching car, so the holeshot is given, and I think you've safely got him (her) out-motored. Their topend is pretty good, but my SVT Contour pulls them, so I'm sure your Z would.

Maybe we have a different idea of bolt ons? My friends RSX-S with Intake, race header (w/ cat delete), exhaust, and reflash went 13.7@103 on street tires. At our local track, the only SVT Contours I've ever seen go mid 15s.

The only RSX's I've come against in the SVT were stock as far as I know, the one I raced a bunch of times I'd holeshot every time, and stay infront of, pulling slowly, though at least 100mph. Perhaps driver is coming into effect there. They do, however, respond very well to bolt-ons, the tune is supposed to do a LOT for that motor. The one you described above would be a nice battle indeed.
BTW, you're pretty right on with the SVT Contour times, stock they're good for about 15.4 at 90mph. 14's are pretty easy with a few bolt ons.

Yeah, that K20 is insane with bolt on mods, but the flash does most of it. The reflash allows the car to spin to a raised rev limiter -still making power safely- until it cuts off at 9100rpm with 100% stock internals. I don't think my friend's exhaust is 3", though. I think its more like 2.5" or less. Without the reflash or at least an intake, all bets are off. The intake alone makes 15whp on that engine.

The RSX and that GT!
Your focus doesn't need to be on them at all!
That Mach 1 is what you need to worry about!

I like where your head's at.
The A-Spec is like kairles said, just rims and aero stuff. It yea, its sounds very Grand Turismo. But I like Grand Turismo, not as much as Forza, but it is fun.

i dont think you'll have any problems with the RSX-S. What's your exact setup? I've seen dog h/c/i 350s that couldn't hit a 13.5, and I've seen smoggable h/c/i 350s that hit 11.9s in a stock weight car..

The RSX might actually give you a run. That is, if the guy can drive at all. Chances are he can't.
You should blow the doors off the newer GT Vert. They run top 14, low 15 at BEST. 5.0 was good in the fox, but the SN95 got HEAVY.
That Cobra Jet is gonna be the one to watch for. They may be old and big, but that is a LOT of power. I'm interested in seeing the results, but my money is on the CJ.

New Edge's auto 'verts are turds. high 14's are the norm.
New Edge hardtop, stickshift GT's are low low 14's at the norm.
Now if its a S197 (05+) GT, the automatic 'vert is still a high 13's car....

Well we raced
Acura Type S – Jumped him about a car ½ off the line by the end I was 3 cars on him I let up before the end easy kill.
Mustang 5.0 1995 – About the same as the Acura jumped him car and ½ kept strong all the way had him I think about 3 ½ car’s
1969 Mach 1 428 – He went HARD off the line sounded like a train had me just a little more then a car and ½ finish almost neck and neck but he had me by a bumper fun race I like the close one’s he saids it all stock but exhaust I call BS.

Look at it this way.The car had 78 more cubes. You did great.I think those old mach 1 cars ran at least low 13s.12s should be no problem even with 40 years of advancement.Imagine if it had a modern valvetrain and heads. He would have smoked you bad.

I have to add, there is no shame in losing to a classic automobile with a big block either! Good kills by the way, especially the r!cer.
