2 Wins in one night!!!!
Alright, so im drivin home from blockbuster last night and i stop at a redlight where a scion tc pulls up next to me. He revs twice and the light turns so i just gun it, i rape him off the line a good 2-3 cars and then he just gives up and turns onto some backroad. I thought these were fast cars stock, maybe im wrong. So i start back on my way and 3 lights down a 90s mustang gt pulls up ( i think it was either a 96-97) and this guy is sittin in his car with the 2 ugliest girls ive ever seen. He rolls his window down and sais " wanna race *****" and yes those were his exact words. I only have an lb9 so i was a little worried, but this gweedo needed to be hurt, so when the light turned i just went for it. I took him from a dig by about 1/2 a car and then just kept pullin to about 65-70 where he started to catch up, but once he got up next to me a got about another 1/2 on him and just held it until he let off. Wow did i feel good that night. Ive got an 305 tpi automatic thats pretty stock. Do you think that they were good races or do all lb9s beat these types of cars?

sounds like you were doing this on a normal street....luckily no one pulled out and you hit them. Take it to the track, this sounds like the type of story that is on the news....kids in stock cars trying to prove themselves because of a nod or headshake.

It was on a street, but it was late at night on an empty road were i could see everything clearly, i wouldnt have raced on a popular or dangerous road, im usually a pretty safe driver. Do you think that it is normal for stock lb9s to beat cars like that. And i plan on taking it to the track this weekend by the way.

The stang was a good kill but the Scion Tc is like 142hp stock so yeah I could take that thing with my Ford Taurus!

i always wondered what kind of HP the TC has, its looks sporty enough, and i actually destroyed one with my silverado ss the other day and i was kinda taken back. thought they were a little faster.

TC's should run really low 16's, high 15's.. my s-10 that runs 16.0, walked my friends stock TC from a roll.. but from a dig, he would take me.. 60 ft's in the s-10 are 2.4's.. the TC kicks off the line.. it has 160 hp, stock

I think you, my friend, have a car that was built on the first monday of the month.
Sounds like a factory freak 305 you got there.
LS1's look out!

If the mustang was a 94-95 which are indestinguishable on the outside from 96-98(which had the more powerful 4.6L), I would not be surprised one bit. They were heavier than the third generation and came with 5.0's at around 215 Hp... probably low 15 second cars at best... throw in the crappy AOD and you've got yourself a slug.

Ahh yes in that case... probably a 96-98, but there is always the possibility that the guy in the mustang was a poser and he just swapped those lights in to look cool, they're a pretty popular mod. Still, I shouldn't be throwing ifs and buts around like that... it's best to assume the other cars are stock.

+1 sn95 NPI cars are terribly slow. Although a PI swap really wakes em up.

i should have taken a picture of her and given it to the zoo so they would believe me when i told them there hippos were loose. THATS A HUGE BITCH!!! I actually wasnt to surprised with those races because the lb9 has uses all of its power down low and they were both relatively short and from a dig. My car slows down alot after about 75-80 so if it was from a fast roll the mustang probably would given me more trouble. Most of the races i take are from stoplight to stoplight and i win most just because its only an 8th of a mile or less. It makes my lb9 seem like a beast on the street. Dont be mad if you have a 305 tpi, there alot faster than the tbi, especialy down low. The car has alot of torque and is more than enough speed for any new driver and most others. These cars look great and are alot of fun to drive, so if you got one hold on to it.

yea i was gunna say..the first year of the mod motors in the mustangs were wimpy, the heads sucked or whatever if am not mistaken. My friend has a 94 5.0...underdrive pullies, long tubes, full exhaust and all he was able to muster out was a 14.9 at best. So he said "to hell with it" and strapped a vortech to it...still does 13.2 @ 109....he is now in the market for an LS1
since the can do that stock
But anyway...nice kill (thumbs up)

yup, mustangs suck.. but they can launch nicely.. there is an 87 5.0 with a 5speed that pulls a tire on a 1.8 60ft.. crazy little car.. runs 13.3's

Yeah Mustangs are trash, I wouldnt know why someone would waste effort on one...
But for the insane few (and I mean very FEW) who do, they just seem to go nowhere. They dont run good numbers, take a TON of mods just to get into the low 14s, high 13s, and break down pretty much everywhere they go. I pitty the guy who doesnt sell his Mustang boat anchor for a 305 Fbody!
:P
Nice runs, the 94-95 cars were a little slower than the foxes, and the 96-98 4.6s were even slower than that. The only real downfall to the 4.6 cars is the weaker aftermarket. They can run good times, but there is nowhere near the aftermarket like the 5.0s got!

I used to love mustangs, but I am not scared of them in any way. They are expected to win not me, so when I beat my buddies 5.0 the feeling was 10 times the better.

Thats the same attitude the import crowd gets bashed for every day. If they lose whatever if they win, OMG they beat a car that should be faster! I understand that mentality, but then again a LOT of people bash import owners for it!

Ok well lets change it up some, what if a LB9 with only free mods was ahead of you in a race from 50-90mph in TPI's semi weak point, would you feel pretty bad?

First off a bolt on LB9 would be NOWHERE near me in a roll race unless I was in 4th gear or he had a good amount of spray. Second I would say thats a fast car. I wouldn't feel bad if a yugo was ahead of me, I realize anything can be made fast and am the kind of person that would try and make anything fast.
Its the same feeling when I beat heads/cam/intake Mustangs. They "should" be faster than me, but a lot of them aren't and it feels good!

Not all the V6 F bodies in 98 had the 3.42 rear. most were 3.23 with a 5 speed option. Only the 96/97 RS with the 3.8 had a 3.42 rear. I think some were the torsen posi rear, but I'm not 100% certain on that.

I know yall are talking mostly 90 model mustangs here but a friend of mine bought a 89 5.0 LX 5 speed that all of our friends agree had something wrong with it.all he did after he bought it was flowmasters and k&n`s.That S.O.B. was fast as a ****.At the time I had a 87 lb9 T/A with 50,000 original miles(this was in 98 or 99)He bought it from some lady who bought it new and it had about 55,000 miles on it.It smoked my T/A REPEATEDLY,and every other car he raced and he wasn`t even a very good driver.I drove it several times and it was a freak.I`d love to race it now though.
