91 Z28 vs 96 Impala SS

My 91 Z28
305 TPI
5 speed trans
SLP cat back
some drivetrain mods
runs mid 14s in the 1/4

VS

96 Impala SS
some bolt-ons
K&N intake?
exhaust?

I think it will be a good race. I'll find out next week.

When you say some bolt-ons does that mean the exhaust and k/n or those plus more?if that is all he has you will win with no problem at all if you run mid to low 14"s he will only get low 15"s with just exhaust and filter

Not necessarily. I owned a '96 Impala SS from '98-'00. All I had done to it was a K&N cold-air setup and Flowmaster dual catback, and it ran consistent 14.7s, with a best of 14.63. Would be a good race for sure!

I think it just has a k&n intake and a cat back exhaust. My cars run 14.5 in the 1/4. Only mods I've done since then was went from 3.42 gears to 3.73s, and swaped the steel drive shaft for a aluminum one.

Should be a prett close race depending on what he has done to the Impy. My dad has a Caprice 9c1,with a hypertech chip, stock exhaust 3.73 gears and a higher stall and he ran 13.9.

my stock 96 roadmaster wagon has gone 15.2 in the 1/4. i'm sure that my car has a few lb's on the ss. it'll be close.

Whats the wagon weigh? My Express has basically the same engine as the B-car LT1 (Vortec 350). Stock Engine, Stock 4L60E, Stock 3.73s, ran a 16.6 @ 83 mph in the 1/4. New L31 GM Goodwrench crate, LT4 cam, Doug Thorley Headers, Magnaflow truck exhaust, S10 Converter went 15.4 @ 94 mph. The Express is 6,100 lbs with me in it!

Don't under estimate the Cast Iron head LT1 engine (Vortec is very similar)

Re: 91 Z28 vs 96 Impala SS

a quick google search says my wagon's curb weight is 4,275lbs. it's also slightly more aero. than your van.

I know, seems about 2,000 lbs lighter too. 2 tons vs. 3 tons
