got killed by a '55 coupe
so im out today to get some dinner for the family and happen to see a guy with a red '55 210. noticed from behind that this guy has exhaust ending under the floor boards, a loapy cam sound and the fancy fuel line with the red and blue connectors. get to a light and seeing how i just got my car outta the shop, i figure, what the heck, ill see what this guy does. from the line i manage to take him, but after second this guy blows past me. my cars almost stock save for headers and runners, but jeeze this guy was fast. my dads got a '56 and that thing chugs along so this suprised me.
just gotta say, nice '55. glad i got beat by that than some import.

Thats one of those street races where I would cough up damn near anything to be standing right on the sidewalk watching it all go down
Sounds like you had fun.

amen to that.. the first race i seen on the street was with my dad.. we were waiting behind a red 70's chevy pickup just rumbling in front of us.. then a twin turbo 300zx pulls into the option lane(right or straight) and gives a little rev.. the truck just sits there like nothing is happening.. the 300 takes off and the truck just eases into the throttle then BAM he floors it, bangs the second gear shift and shimmies the rear end.. third, nice healthy chirp and by this point, he catches the 300 and just pulled him hard.. down the road, up at a side road, about 1/4 mile away the truck was over 4 lengths on the car.. crazy stuff.. i'll never forget that.. truck coulda ran easy 12's.. yea, it was one of the first street races where i was actually kinda shaken. having the car overheat after, not so much enjoyment there. although, it kinda gives me more reason to get on my dad again about restoring our '56 instead of him dumping money on his shelby, and me modding my bird.

I got beat severly by a '55 at the track. It was a street driven car, though it was trailered to the track. Have seen it around local cruises.
My IROC was running low 14's at the time.. the '55 was hitting 10"s pulling the front wheels off the ground on launch. Pretty neat to see a car take off like that right next to you.
Here's a video of it from earlier in the night. I have the one where I raced him, but all you can see is my car, the girl filming didn't do a good job.
